Falcons Complete Season Sweep of Manheim Township in Straight Sets

With the District 3 playoff picture tightening and only a handful of matches left in the regular season, Cedar Crest knew Tuesday night carried extra weight. Playing at home in “The Cage” and in front of the LebCo Sports Live audience, the Falcons took care of business with a straight-set 3-0 sweep of Manheim Township, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-16.

Cedar Crest came out sharp in the opening set and established control early. The Falcons put together a strong start on their home floor, taking the 1st set 25-18 and setting the tone for the rest of the night.

Manheim Township pushed back in the 2nd set and made Cedar Crest earn it, but the Falcons answered the challenge. Cedar Crest held off the Blue Streaks for a 25-20 win, then carried that momentum into the 3rd set to complete the season sweep with a 25-16 victory.

Niko Kotay led Cedar Crest with 7 kills and 2 aces, while Nick Kennen added 7 kills and 6 blocks. Wyeth Ritterdirected the offense with 14 assists, and Matthew Spragg finished with 11 digs. For Manheim Township, Wyatt Wachinski totaled 11 kills and 3 aces, Brady Bergman posted 9 digs, Jack Black handed out 13 assists, and Trent Schumaker recorded 2 blocks.

With the win, Cedar Crest improved to 8-5 on the season and boosted its playoff outlook with four matches remaining. The Falcons will begin their final playoff push on Thursday against undefeated Hempfield.
