Dutchmen Sweep Pequea Valley Behind Big Performances at Annville
With warm temperatures in the low 70s and a steady breeze hanging around the track, Annville-Cleona hosted Pequea Valley on Monday in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 matchup.
By the end of the evening, the Dutchmen had a sweep in hand. Annville-Cleona’s girls rolled to a 121-27 victory, while the boys followed with a 115-32 win.
Girls Recap: Annville-Cleona 121, Pequea Valley 27
Annville-Cleona’s girls controlled this meet with depth across the track and in the field, stacking points in nearly every event on the way to a lopsided Section 3 victory.
Mackenzie Stellmach set the tone in the distance events, winning the 1600m and adding a second-place finish in the 800m. Teige Christiansen won the 400m, Cailin Shay took the 300m Hurdles and pole vault, and Bella Pulaski added another first in the Javelin. The Dutchmen also got relay wins in the 4x100m Relay and 4x400m Relay.
Annville-Cleona turned several events into complete sweeps. The Dutchmen went 1-2-3 in the 1600m behind Mackenzie Stellmach, Valentina Russo, and Bridget Funck. They also swept the 200m with Johanna Roserie, Flavia Armando, and Faith Light, and the 3200m with Lucy Stellmach, Mia, and Leah Rotunda. AC added full sweeps in the High Jump, Discus, and Shot Put, while the Javelin was nearly the same story, with Bella Pulaski, Laney Zimmerman, and Dana Hoover going 1-2-3 for another big-point event.
Pequea Valley still had a few bright spots. Bailee Kohr won the 110m Hurdles and Reagan Gates took the 800m. But Annville-Cleona’s balance and event depth were too much to overcome.

Boys Recap: Annville-Cleona 115, Pequea Valley 32
Annville-Cleona’s boys were just as impressive, using distance strength, field-event dominance, and relay success to secure another comfortable dual-meet win.
David Moran was a major part of that effort, winning both the 1600m and 800m. Danny Shay added a first-place finish in the 400m, while the Dutchmen also won the 4x100m Relay and 4x400m Relay. Ben Allwein swept jumps in winning the High Jump, Long Jump, and Triple Jump. When it came to the throws, Dominic Wentling won the Discus and Shot Put, while his cousin Luke Wentling captured the Javelin.
The Dutchmen also piled up points with several sweeps. Annville-Cleona swept the 3200m behind Ben Boyd, Oliver Brandt, and Ollie Funck. The High Jump also went AC’s way 1-2-3 with Ben Allwein, Levi Custer, and Elijah Epler, while the Javelin, Discus, and Shot Put were all Dutchmen sweeps as well. Those event-by-event point hauls helped the home team put the meet away early.
Pequea Valley found wins in the sprints and hurdle races. Kadrese won the 100m, Kade Reese took the 200m, the Braves claimed the 300m Hurdles, and Nathan Sensenig won the Pole Vault. But Annville-Cleona’s ability to answer in the distance races, relays, jumps, and throws was the difference.

What’s Next?
Annville-Cleona’s boys are now 2-3, while the girls picked up their first dual meet victory of the season to move to 1-4. However, in track & field, the team results only tell part of the story, as the Dutchmen are compiling some high-level performances that will surely result in hardware come championship season. This weekend, they will have a chance to flash some of that individual talent at Shippensburg’s Jack Roddick Invitational before hitting the road Monday to Columbia to resume their dual meet schedule.
