LebCo Boys Track & Field Season Outlook: 2026
Palmyra Opens Season Strong with Dual Meet Sweep at Cedar Cliff
Palmyra opened their 2026 campaign with a strong showing on both sides Tuesday, sweeping the track and field dual meet at Cedar Cliff. Using dual-meet scoring, the Cougars’ girls earned a 121-28 victory, while the boys claimed a 130-22 win, fueled by sprint strength, relay success, distance depth, and several key field-event performances. Cedar Cliff also had standout efforts of its own, especially in the girls distance races and hurdles, along with a pair of boys field-event wins.
Girls: Palmyra 121, Cedar Cliff 28
Palmyra’s girls controlled the meet with a balanced effort across nearly every phase. The Cougars swept the top three spots in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 100m hurdles, while also winning all three relays. Maddy Waldron led the sprint group by winning both the 100m in 12.66 and the 200m in 26.44, while Ella Stuart took first in the 400m and Chelsea Herr won the 800m. Palmyra also got a distance victory from Jericho Church in the 3200m.
Another major highlight came in the 400m relay, where Palmyra’s team of Allie Fink, Emily Bearinger, Calla Hipple, and Maddy Waldron ran a 50.35, finishing just .01 off the school record.
In the field, Isabella Owens had one of the top performances of the day, winning the long jump with a PR of 17’5″ and also taking first in the triple jump. Shayla Carl swept the throwing wins in discus and shot put, Bella Cowitch won the pole vault, and Helena Baker took first in the 100m hurdles while also tying for the high jump win.
Cedar Cliff’s girls still produced several strong performances. Olivia Walley won both the 1600m and 300m hurdles, while Sunny Duncan captured the javelin and finished second in discus. McKenna Pincin added runner-up finishes in both the long jump and triple jump.
