On Saturday, the Lancaster Lebanon Girls Wrestling Championships took place at Manheim Township High School. It marked the third year for the event, and it resulted in an impressive showing for LebCo’s wrestlers. When all of the brackets were complete, LebCo athletes had won 21 medals across five programs. Medals were awarded to the top six finishers in each weight class, and the tournament served as an early spark for what hopes to be an exciting postseason that will finish at the Giant Center in March.
Leading the way was ELCO junior Kylee Trostle, who was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler after powering her way to her first League Championship at 112. Trostle left no doubt in the finals, needing just 18 seconds to pin Elizabethtown’s Cassidy Carl and slam the door on her title run.
Cedar Crest delivered the county’s biggest championship punch, crowning two league champions, both sophomores: Lily Harchuska (124) and Madelyn Shanfelder (142). In the 124-pound final, Harchuska finished her climb to the top of the podium with a decisive pin in 1:51. At 142, Shanfelder capped her title run with a finals pin in 3:46, closing out a standout postseason moment for the Falcons. Cedar Crest also led the LebCo contingent in the team standings with a 5th-place team finish, and added three more medalists to round out an impressive day: Lilliana Bohn (2nd – 155), Sophia Ventura (3rd – 235), and Aaliyah Gill (4th – 148).
Beyond the champions, several LebCo wrestlers battled their way into runner-up finishes. Northern Lebanon’s Dakota Dengler earned silver at 148 — and in the process, picked up the 50th win of her career, joining teammate Anna Lanka, who reached the milestone earlier in the week. Also finishing second were Lebanon’s Isabella Poole Martinez (2nd – 100), Annville-Cleona’s Kora Wolfe (2nd – 136), and Cedar Crest’s Bohn (2nd – 155).
Beyond the finalists, the medals kept coming. Northern Lebanon posted five total medalists, adding Lanka (3rd – 130), Rebecca Hilton (5th – 155), Reminisce Perez (4th – 136), and Aubri Frederick (6th – 142). Lebanon added two more medal finishes behind Poole Martinez, with Ninoska Bonilla (6th – 190) and Nataliah Rodriguez (6th – 235). ELCO’s medal haul also included Nevaeh Fischer (3rd – 155), plus fifth-place finishes from Lorelai Boehler (5th – 100), Madelyn Zimmerman (5th – 190), and Maracelys Morales Sanchez (5th – 235), along with Kaylee Garman (4th – 170). Annville-Cleona added another podium spot as Savannah Milian finished (6th – 130).
With league titles, milestone wins, and a wave of podium finishes across the brackets, LebCo wrestlers will now shift their focus to the next stage of the postseason — with momentum building toward several of them earning their place on the state’s biggest stage in Hershey.
