First Pitch
Division 1 Baseball kicked off with a Lebanon County pitcher picking up the first win of the 2025 season at D1. Weather knocked out most of the rest of the schedule and looks to cause havoc this week as well. Here’s a Week Two recap with two brothers in our Featured Spotlights.

Following three years in a utility role of 3B/DH/2B including back to back conference honors at second base, senior Dylan Beard returns to the position at which he was recruited, first base. Messiah traveled to Newport News, VA face nationally ranked #11 Christopher Newport University for a three game set. While Messiah was swept, Beard was among the leaders on both sides of the ball for the Falcons. In game one, offense was at a premium as the big righty tallied one of three hits for MU. He singled, walked, stole a base and scored a run as CNU prevailed 8-2. In game two on Friday, Beard ripped a two run single (Video) to give Messiah a four run lead, which they squandered with walks and errors, falling 9-5 after leading by three runs in the seventh (Game Stories and Box Scores). Messiah again let one get away on Saturday with Beard tallying an RBI single off the wall (Video) in three at bats with two runs and two walks along with several outstanding defensive plays (Video) (Video) (Game Story and Box Score). He finished the weekend 3 for 10 with three runs, three RBI, four walks, and a stolen base. Messiah heads to Ashland VA to face Randolph-Macon College this weekend.

After allowing a seeing eye single in the fifth, he recorded three more outs (Video), exiting with a two run lead in the fourth. Monmouth prevailed in the scheduled seven inning contest, 4-2 (Game Story and Box Score).
