First Team All-County
LebCo Offensive Player of the Year / LebCo MVP Baseball Player
Moises Gonzalez – Northern Lebanon
In 2023, Moises Gonzalez put up some eye-popping offensive numbers that fueled Northern Lebanon’s first-ever appearance in the PIAA State Championship Tournament. During his junior year, those numbers included a .338 batting average, a .516 OBP, and 19 RBI. This resulted in him being named last year’s LebCo Offensive Player of the Year.
Could Gonzalez follow up that level of performance in his senior year? Not only did he maintain, but he exceeded his previous level of play. Gonzalez batted .469 with an OBP of .609. His prowess at the plate resulted in 30 hits, 18 of which went for extra bases and included eight home runs. When the calculations were considered, Gonzalez posted a 1.078 slugging %. He produced 31 RBI and scored 29 runs, fueling the Viking offense to score 159 times on their way to winning the Lancaster Lebanon League Section 4 Championship. Always a tough out, Gonzalez struck out only nine times in 87 plate appearances.
Once the season was complete, Gonzalez picked up honors as a 1st Team – LL Section 4 selection and was named 1st Team All-State (4A). Next season, Gonzalez plans to continue his playing career at Penn State – Harrisburg. If he continues to improve, Gonzalez could have the opportunity to forge a path that could take him well beyond the 717.
LebCo Pitchers of the Year
Jonathan Strohecker – Palmyra
As a sophomore, Strohecker started seven games for Palmyra, in which he went 2-2. It was during those 35.2 innings that he flashed something special, recording a 1.57 ERA and striking out 43 batters. This landed him as the 2nd Team LebCo All-County.
During his junior year, Strohecker took on more of a workload for the Cougars as they made Districts and fell just one win shy of making States. He became the ace that Coach Hileman turned to in big games, resulting in District Playoff wins over Hershey and South Western. He threw a total of 45 innings during the season, only allowing eight earned runs on his way to posting a 1.24 ERA. Opposing hitters batted a paltry .186 against him. He struck out 61 and walked only eight. This lack of baserunners resulted in a .889 WHIP.
For his efforts, Strohecker was named a 1st Team – Mid Penn Keystone Division All-Star. Last month, the rising senior announced that he had committed to continuing his athletic career at James Madison University. But before Strohecker heads to Harrisonburg, he will still have one more season pitching for the orange and black.
Adrian Gonzalez – Northern Lebanon
In 2023, Gonzalez burst onto the scene as a freshman, showing that he was going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. He started ten games, going 4-4 with three complete games. Overall, he pitched 50.2 innings and struck out 40 on his way to compiling a 3.48 ERA. His control was extremely impressive, as he only walked eight and threw only one wild pitch. It was this performance that earned him honors as the LebCo Pitcher of the Year and LebCo Rookie of the Year.
It turns out that his numbers a season ago would look minor compared to what Gonzalez put up during his sophomore year. In ten starts, Gonzalez threw six complete games, going 6-3 with three shutouts. In 62 innings pitched, Gonzalez held his opponents batting .173 against him. This resulted in a 0.79 ERA, giving up only seven earned runs. As for strikeouts, Gonzalez punched out 72 opposing batters. His performances helped to lead Northern Lebanon to an 18-3 record and the Lancaster Lebanon League Section 4 Championship.
When the season ended, Gonzalez was honored with 1st Team – LL Section 4 and 2nd Team All-State honors.
Rookie of the Year
Braden Gettle – ELCO
After starting the season at junior varsity level, the sophomore made the leap to the varsity roster for the Raiders and made an immediate impact. In 18 games, Gettle batted .286 and posted a .386 OBP. This included a four-game hitting streak as ELCO battled into Districts before finishing as the runners-up and earning a bid into the PIAA State Championship Tournament. In total, Gettle had 12 hits, 7 RBI, and scored 7 runs. Performing in high-pressure situations, Gettle picked up experience that will serve him well as he continues his career at ELCO for the next two seasons.
