Presented in coordination with Froggy Valley 100.1/WiLBuR 99.7 & Lebanon Federal Credit Union, help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week. Linked below are the articles about our most recent winners of the award.
Voting will remain open until Wednesday at 10 pm.
One vote per email address, per day will be allowed.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.

Female Nominees
Olive Brandt (Lebanon / Jr.) – Basketball: In the Cedars’ win over Manheim Township on Friday, the junior guard scored a team-high 19 points in a performance that included a trio of three pointers. Earlier in the week, Brandt registered 11 points in the team’s win over Hempfield.
Kendall Cooper (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Basketball: In a showdown with Our Lady of the Cross, Cooper scored 34 points to help the Dutchmen secure the 64-45 victory.
Qynne Demler (New Covenant / So.) – Basketball: Against Mount Cavalry Christian, the sophomore scored 23 points in what was a tight loss. Demler also had 5 rebounds and 2 steals. The Flames are currently 7-2, with Demler leading the way with a 24.7 ppg average.
Alison Groff (Cedar Crest / Fr.) – Basketball: The freshman point guard had 10 points in Crest’s win over Penn Manor. Groff’s scoring performance included two three pointers and going 2-2 from the free throw line. She also only committed two turnovers while directing the Lady Falcons on their way to the 48-35 victory.
Makenna Haas (ELCO / Sr.) – Track & Field: The senior won both the Triple Jump & Long Jump at the LVC Indoor Track & Field Invite this past weekend. Her leap of 37’0.5″ in the Triple Jump set an ELCO school record. Haas measured a jump of 17′ in the Long Jump.
Riley Hatzfeld (Our Lady of the Cross / Sr.) – Basketball: In front of a home crowd, Hatzfeld put up 36 points in a loss to Annville-Cleona. On Friday, she then scored 25 points to lead the Lions to victory over York Country Day. In the win, the senior hit three threes and was 4-4 from the foul line.
Ellie Schaeffer (Palmyra / Sr.) – Swimming: The senior has shown continuous improvement, including dropping .66 seconds off of her previous best in the 100 yd Freestyle. That new PR came in a meet against Mechanicsburg after Schaeffer had already shed .85 seconds off of her time when swimming against Bishop McDevitt.
Hayley Sheroky (Northern Lebanon / Jr.) – Basketball: On Friday, the Lady Vikings played at the Wells Fargo Center, defeating Williams Valley 44-18. In the game, Sheroky scored 13 points, including nailing two three pointers from the NBA line.
Past Winner Update: Kaila Francis (Cedar Crest /Jr.) – Basketball: In Friday’s win over Penn Manor, the forward put together a line of 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 blocks, all while shooting 63% from the field and 5-6 from the foul line. Earlier in the week, she had a 13 point,15 rebound, 5 block performance in the team’s win over Manheim Township. In that game, she shot 62% from the field and 3-3 from the line.
Male Nominees
Gavin Bicher (ELCO / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior earned himself a starting role for the Raiders. Since then, he has done many of the little things to keep ELCO competitive in each game, racking up points, steals, assists, and rebounds. In a game where Bicher recorded 9 points, his outstanding effort helped the team earn a win over Lancaster Catholic on Friday night.
Camron Buchmoyer (Lebanon / Jr.) – Bowling: Mostly known as a linebacker, Buchmoyer has continued to show improvement in his new endeavor. Against E-Town, he had a high game of 231. Over the last three matches, his average has risen by 8 pins each match.
Cornelius Cummings (Palmyra / Jr.) – Swimming: Against Bishop McDevitt, Cummings won two individual events, the 50 yd & 100 yd Freestyle, and helped two relay teams to victory. He followed up the performance against Mechanicsburg just two days later with a win in the 500 yd Freestyle, a 2nd place finish in the 200 yd Freestyle, and two relay victories. His time in the 500 yd Free was a full five second improvement over his previous best.
Aaron Seidel (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Wrestling: The three-time State Champion added to his resume by breaking the Lancaster Lebanon League’s all-time career wins record with his 175th victory. Seidel then added win #176 on his way to a 2nd place finish at the Mid-Winter Mayhem Tournament at IUP.
Jaxon Speece (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Wrestling: At the Dutchmen Duals, the 285-pound sophomore pinned all four of his opponents. His wins helped place Annville to a perfect 4-0 day with wins over East Pennsboro, York Tech, Susquenita, and Hanover. Speece’s record is now 15-2 to start the season.
Gradyn Summers (New Covenant / So.) – Basketball: In New Covenant’s 60-56 overtime win over Mount Cavalry, the sophomore loomed large with 25 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. His scoring included two three pointers and going 5-5 from the foul line. Later in the week, Summers scored 11 in a loss to Dayspring Christian.
RJ Young (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior big man scored 18 points to lead the Falcons to victory over Penn Manor on Friday night. Young then scored a team-high 11 points in a road loss to Wilson on Saturday afternoon.
