Swimming 2024 League Championships: Full LebCo Results

This weekend, both the Lancaster Lebanon League and the Mid Penn Conference are holding their Championships. Although, only Cedar Crest and Palmyra compete as full teams throughout the winter season, there are athletes from five LebCo schools in action. LebCo athletes combined for twenty-six medals.  The medal haul was highlighted by two gold medals earned by Lebanon’s Will Parker, as he looks to repeat as a PIAA State medalist.

Next up in the Swimming & Diving postseason will be the District 3 Championships. The Swimming portion of the championships will take place at Cumberland Valley High School on March 1-2. The Diving event will take place at Dover High School the previous weekend.

Districts serves as a qualifying event for the PIAA State Championships at Bucknell in mid-March.

2023 League Championship Results


 

Lancaster Lebanon League

The Lancaster Lebanon League Swim Championships are being held at Wilson High School and included athletes from Annville-Cleona, Cedar Crest, Lebanon, Northern Lebanon.  The event started on Friday night and concluded on Saturday evening. When all of the events were complete, LebCo athletes collected thirteen medals.

 

Friday: The first night was highlighted with a dynamic performance by the group of swimmers representing Lebanon. Senior Will Parker took gold in the 50 Freestyle, while freshman Jomar Hidalgo took silver in the 200 Individual Medley. Expect more medals from Lebanon, as Parker is the top-seeded swimmer in Saturday’s 100 Breast. On the girl’s side, Lebanon’s Alexis Binkley claimed an 8th-place medal in the 200 Free.

Northern Lebanon’s Carter Cheslock finished 6th in the 100 Fly, and Annville-Cleona’s Danny Trate took 7th in the 50 Free.

 

SaturdayLebCo swimmers earned an additional five medals in the second day of the event. It was highlighted with Will Parker winning his second gold, this time taking the 100 Breaststroke by nearly five full seconds on his way to setting a new pool record. Jomar Hidalgo, also of Lebanon, took bronze in the 100 Backstroke. Hidalgo’s sister, Carla, made it on the podium, placing 8th in the same event as her younger brother.

When it comes to siblings, Northern Lebanon’s Collin Cheslock earned 8th place in the 100 Breaststroke to match the medal count of brother Carter.  Annville’s Danny Trate added a second medal, taking 6th in the 100 Free.

Mid Penn Conference – Palmyra

At the Mid Penn Championships, Palmyra was one of twenty-six teams competing at Cumberland Valley High School. The event started with a separate diving competition on Wednesday, with swimming taking place on Friday and Saturday. When all of the events had finished, Palmyra had collected thirteen medals. The performance by the Boys team placed them 6th overall with 145 points. The Girls scored 121 points and also finished 6th.

Diving: Three Palmyra girls competed on Wednesday night. Two walked away with medals, with Kristen Thai claiming bronze and Elaina Potter placing 6th.

Friday: The Cougars collected six medals, headlined with the 4th place finish by Sam Gladyz in the 100 Fly.

Saturday: The Cougars combined for five more medals, which included Sam Gladyz, Cornelius Cummings, Morgan Lantz, and Abby Berarducci each picking up their second individual medals of the event.
