Youth Travel Basketball Girls Update: February 2

This update runs through February 1, 2023

The information provided comes directly from the coaches within the Lancaster Lebanon Travel League.  We thank all of the coaches for their dedication to developing the next generation of basketball players within their communities.

     Annville-Cleona

6th grade (5-8 overall; 2-5, 4th place in Section 4)

Recent Games:

1/15: Lebanon defeated Annville

1/18: Annville defeated Pequea Valley

1/18: Annville defeated Octorara

1/22: Annville defeated Cocalico

1/25: Annville defeated ELCO

Notes: This was Annville-Cleona’s first travel team in the last three years and they struggled early on in the season.  However, they finished the season winning their last four games, which included wins over Pequea Valley and ELCO (both were playoff teams).  The defense really gelled nicely by the end of the season, making them highly competitive as the offense was able to do its thing.  The offensive attack was led by Georgia Sellers and Holly Gross.  Over the last four games, Sellers scored 9 ppg, including a 14 point performance against Cocalico, a game the team won 30-10.

     Cedar Crest

6th grade (4-10 overall; 2-6, 4th place in Section 1)

1/23: Cedar Crest defeated Manheim Central

1/23: Cedar Crest defeated Penn Manor

1/25: Lebanon defeated Cedar Crest

1/23: Cedar Crest defeated Conestoga Valley

1/23: Cedar Crest defeated Penn Manor

1/25: Cedar Crest defeated ELCO

1/26: Cedar Crest defeated Northern Lebanon Blue

Playoffs

Semifinals – 2/1: Cedar Crest (31) defeated Garden Spot (9)

Finals – 2/5: Cedar Crest v Conestoga Valley

Notes: This group of 5th graders is undefeated and, after winning last night, have punched their ticket for Sunday’s championship game.  Mya Kleinfelter and Addy Shay have led the offense, with aid from Lynken Bechtold and Gracie Deraco.  It’s been a total team effort on defense that has made it difficult for their opponents to keep up.  Following the completion of this season, the team will play in two regional tournaments, giving them more time to bound as a unit.
