LebCo Athlete of the Week Voting: September 28 – October 4

 


 

Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action.  While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.

Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.

While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.

While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.

Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.

Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor. 

The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees

Hadyn Boyer (ELCO / Sr.) – Girls Soccer: The senior delivered a milestone week while helping ELCO win 4 straight games against Solanco, Donegal, East Pennsboro, and Cedar Crest. Boyer recorded a hat trick and reached 100 career points in the victory over Solanco before scoring 2 second-half goals in Saturday’s 4-2 win over rival Cedar Crest, helping the Raiders retain the Blue-Gray Cup.

Alayna Dalton (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Field Hockey: The sophomore helped anchor an Annville-Cleona defense that went 3-0 in section play during the week. Dalton also recorded a defensive save in a 3-1 victory over Lancaster Country Day, providing a key presence on the back end during another successful stretch for the Dutchmen.

Katelyn Ecenroad (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Field Hockey: The senior defensive midfielder and team speaking captain has been a central presence in Northern Lebanon’s lineup, contributing 2 goals, 4 assists, and 1 defensive save this season. The 2-time L-L League 2nd Team All-Star helps organize the Vikings on the field, directs positioning, and plays an important role in the team’s penalty-corner execution.

Mia Grinstead (Palmyra / Fr.) – Girls Soccer: The freshman contributed to Palmyra’s 3-0 victory over Northern Lebanon on Saturday, finding the net to extend the Cougars’ advantage to 2-0. Grinstead’s goal helped Palmyra secure the Lebanon County matchup and complete the clean-sheet victory.

Leigha Kane (Palmyra / Sr.) – Field Hockey: The senior produced in both victories during another dominant week for Palmyra. Kane converted a penalty stroke in Monday’s 2-0 shutout of Red Land before collecting 1 goal and 2 assists in Wednesday’s 6-0 victory over Cedar Cliff, helping the Cougars outscore their opponents 8-0 across the 2 games.

Rayven Soliday (Lebanon / Sr.) – Girls Soccer: The senior goalkeeper turned in a tremendous performance against Tulpehocken, making 22 saves in a narrow 1-0 loss. Soliday repeatedly denied the Trojans and kept the Cedars within a single goal despite facing sustained pressure throughout the contest.

Elizabeth Tavani (Northern Lebanon / So.) – Field Hockey: The sophomore right midfielder has emerged as an important contributor for Northern Lebanon, recording 3 goals, 2 assists, and 1 defensive save this season. Tavani has provided the Vikings with production on penalty corners while using her passing and versatility to contribute throughout the midfield.

Mikalyn Weaber (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Field Hockey: The senior goalkeeper stood tall under heavy pressure during the week, totaling 33 saves across 2 contests. Weaber turned away 19 shots against Hempfield on Monday before making another 14 saves against Warwick on Friday, continuing to provide a steady presence in the cage for the Falcons.



Male Nominees

Benjamin Boyd (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior raced to the individual victory in Annville-Cleona’s home meet against Pequea Valley and Mount Calvary, crossing the line in 16:03. Boyd’s performance continued a strong stretch that also included a 4th-place finish in the AA Boys race at the Ben Bloser Invitational.

Alex Csongradi (Palmyra / Sr.) – Football: The senior provided a steady presence in the Palmyra backfield, carrying 22 times for 144 yards and 1 touchdown. Csongradi averaged more than 6.5 yards per carry while accounting for a significant portion of the Cougars’ rushing production.

Brinley Donmoyer (ELCO / Sr.) – Football: The senior made an impact with both his arm and legs in Friday’s 36-15 victory over Daniel Boone. Donmoyer rushed for 171 yards while also throwing 2 touchdown passes, helping ELCO remain in the hunt in L-L Section 4 and the District 3 Class 4A playoff race.

Brady Hughes (Palmyra / So.) – Golf: The sophomore put together a strong final round at Saturday’s District 3 Class 3A Boys Golf Championship, moving up 5 spots on the leaderboard to finish as the District 3 runner-up. Hughes earned a silver medal while also securing a spot in the PIAA State Championships.

Gavin Mesón (New Covenant / Sr.) – Boys Soccer: The senior contributed to all 3 goals in Friday’s 3-0 victory over Conestoga Christian, scoring once and assisting on 2 others. Mesón’s all-around work in the attack helped the Flames improve to 8-4-1 as they battle for a spot in the District 3 playoffs.

Zyir Molyneaux (Lebanon / So.) – Football: The sophomore accounted for both Lebanon touchdowns in Friday night’s matchup against Governor Mifflin. Molyneaux connected with quarterback Henne Cortes for touchdown receptions of 80 and 14 yards, providing the Cedars with a pair of explosive scoring plays.

Lucas Schreier (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Boys Soccer: The senior midfielder scored 3 goals across Cedar Crest’s final 2 matches of the week. Schreier found the net in the Falcons’ 4-2 victory over McCaskey before scoring both Cedar Crest goals in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with ELCO in the annual Ritter-Hoffman Cup rivalry match. He now has 8 goals and 8 assists this season, making him a key part of a dangerous Falcons attack alongside Sammy Zeisloft and Jemar Pauleus.
