Dutchmen Take County Contest Against Lebanon

In a clash between two Lebanon County teams Wednesday afternoon at Lebanon, Annville-Cleona used a big day at the plate from Nia Hafey and a steady outing in the circle from Zoe Miller to roll past the Cedars by a 13-1 final in a game that lasted six innings following the Dutchmen’s outburst in the top of the 6th.

The Dutchmen wasted little time getting started in the top of the 1st. Hafey sparked the early offense with a triple to center field, and Annville-Cleona added another run on a Lebanon error to jump in front 2-0.

Annville-Cleona pushed its lead to 3-0 in the top of the 3rd when Anna Pacewicz brought home a run on a groundout.

The Dutchmen broke the game open in the 4th. Abigail Evans singled in a run, Peyton Elder followed with a two-run home run to left field, and Temperance Brubaker added an RBI single as Annville-Cleona plated four runs in the inning to take control.

After Lebanon got on the board in the bottom of the 6th, the Dutchmen answered with their biggest inning of the afternoon. Annville-Cleona scored six runs on four hits in the top of the 6th, with Brubaker driving in two on a single, Savannah Milian tripling home a run, Hafey doubling in another, and the Dutchmen also taking advantage of a pair of dropped third strikes and an error.

Hafey was one of the stars of the day, finishing 3-for-5 with a triple, double, RBI, and three runs scored. Brubakermatched her with three hits, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Elder added a big performance of her own, finishing 2-for-5 with a home run, double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Milian chipped in a triple, RBI, and run, while Evans drove in a run and scored once. Pacewicz also finished with an RBI and a run scored, and Miller crossed the plate three times while stealing two bases.

In the circle, Miller earned the win for Annville-Cleona. The right-hander worked six innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out six without a walk.

Lebanon got one hit apiece from Janyia De Jesus, Tatiana Franco, and Aubri Pisano, while Makenzie Swisher drove in the Cedars’ lone run. Layla Mailloux struck out seven over six innings in the circle.

Annville-Cleona also turned three double plays in the win.
