LebCo Athlete of the Week Voting: February 9-15

 

 

Presented in coordination with Froggy Valley 100.1/WiLBuR 99.7 & Lebanon Federal Credit Union.

 


 

Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action.  While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.

Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.

While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.

While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.

Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.

Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor. 

The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees

Lorelai Boehler (ELCO / So.) – Wrestling: At Section Championships, Boehler earned silver in the 100-pound weight class. On her way to the finals, she improved her record to 24-6, providing ELCO with top-end finishing talent alongside Kylee Trostle, who claimed her third straight Section Championship.

Jobi Long (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Wrestling: Long secured a 5th place finish at Sectionals, earning one of six Viking medals, including gold from teammate Anna Lanka. The senior went 4-2 in the tournament, earning her 50th career victory before adding her 51st on the climb to the podium. She closed her season with a 21-15 record.

Elli Malinoski (Cedar Crest / So.) – Basketball: Playing through a lower leg injury over the past three weeks, Malinoski delivered in a huge way during Cedar Crest’s 2OT win over Lancaster Catholic in the LL League Quarterfinals. The sophomore scored a game-high 18 points, including three three-pointers, and calmly hit the game-tying free throws (three of three) with no time left in regulation. She also added 8 rebounds and 2 steals in the victory.

Nataliah Rodriguez (Lebanon / Jr.) – Wrestling: At Section Championships, Rodriguez earned bronze at 235 pounds, securing her medal with two pins. Her strong performance earned her a spot in the Regional Championships alongside teammate Isabella Poole Martinez.

Riley Zettlemoyer (Palmyra / Sr.) – Wrestling: Competing at 118 pounds at Section Championships, Zettlemoyer battled to a 3rd place finish. The senior went 4-1 in the tournament with two pins and a major decision. Now 20-13 on the season, she advances to Regionals with teammates Cadence Manney and Cala Hipple.

Adrianna Yeagley (New Covenant / Jr.) – Basketball: In Wednesday’s CCAC Semifinal double overtime win over Mount Calvary, Yeagley stepped up with a season-high 10 points to help the Flames advance. The junior also provided key rebounding and strong defense in the clutch victory.

Male Nominees

Devon Englehart (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Wrestling: At the District 3 AA – Section 2 Championships, Englehart was one of two Dutchmen to earn bronze, along with Blaine Leitz. Competing at 133-pounds, the junior went 3-1 in the tournament with two pins and a thrilling 5-3 decision in the medal round. His performance earned him a spot in the District 3 Championships.

Elijah Foltz (Palmyra / So.) – Wrestling: Foltz helped lead a dominant showing by Palmyra Wrestling as the Cougars captured the District 3 AAA – Section 2 Championship at Hempfield. The sophomore went 3-0 with two pins to claim the 107-pound title. Now 34-2 on the season, Foltz is one of 10 Palmyra wrestlers advancing to Regionals.

Landyn Kline (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Wrestling: At the District 3 AAA – Section 1 Championships, Kline went 3-1 on his way to earning silver in the 189-pound weight class. His run included a pin and a major decision. Now 24-9, the senior qualified for the Regional Championships.

Kane Kline (ELCO / So.) – Wrestling: At the District 3 AAA – Section 1 Championships, Kline was one of three ELCO gold medalists, joining teammates Klint Miller and Ashton Kriss. The sophomore went 4-0 with two pins, a tech fall, and a 15-2 major decision in the gold medal round. Improving to 34-4 on the season, Kline helped ELCO secure a 3rd place team finish and advance to Regionals.

Connor Troxell (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Wrestling: Troxell was one of two Vikings to capture gold at the District 3 AA – Section 2 Championships, joining teammate Sam Wolford. Wrestling at 215 pounds, he recorded a 50-second pin over an opponent from Berks Catholic and a hard-fought 2-0 decision over an opponent from Bishop McDevitt. Now 34-6, Troxell advances to Districts with momentum.
