Cross Country: LebCo Athletes Shine at Weekend Invitationals – Full Results

 

 

 

On Saturday, varsity runners from LebCo were spread across three meets. We have the results from each of those meets, with athletes in action from Annville-Cleona, Cedar Crest, Lebanon, and Northern Lebanon.

PIAA Foundation Meet

The 19th annual PIAA Foundation Meet was held at the Hershey Park course, the same venue that will host the PIAA State Championships later this season. Drawing top teams from across the Commonwealth, this prestigious meet offered an early preview of state-level competition. Lebanon County was well represented, with Annville-Cleona and Cedar Crest among the premier talent on the course. The Dutchmen fielded full teams, while the Falcons competed in a limited capacity.

Several Lebanon County athletes earned individual medals with top-20 finishes. For Cedar Crest, Eliana Schneider finished 12th in the AAA Girls race, while Travis Furmanski earned 4th in the AAA Boys race. Annville-Cleona’s medalists included Mackenzie Stellmach (7th) and Lucy Stellmach (16th) in the AA Girls race, and Oliver Funck(13th) in the AA Boys race.

 

AAA Girls – Cedar Crest

Cedar Crest’s senior Eliana Schneider led the Falcons in the AAA Girls race, finishing 12th overall in 19:56.5 to earn a medal. The race featured 263 total finishers.

AA Girls – Annville-Cleona

The AA girls’ race included 28 full teams and 199 runners. Annville-Cleona turned in a strong performance, placing 4th as a team. Medalists included Mackenzie Stellmach, who finished 7th in 20:21.7, and her sister Lucy Stellmach, who placed 16th in 20:53.2. The team’s next top finishers were Leah Tshudy (43rd, 22:07.6), Leah Rotunda (61st, 22:46.0), and Caitlin Shay (65th, 22:56.9), helping secure the team’s overall finish.

Gwynedd-Mercy Academy captured the team title with 67 points, while Lewisburg Area’s Baylee Espinosa won the race in 18:20.9.

AAA Boys – Cedar Crest

Cedar Crest’s senior Travis Furmanski turned in a standout performance in the AAA Boys race, earning a medal with a 4th-place finish in 16:17.4. North Penn, a LebCoSports.com favorite, was the top AAA team.

AA Boys – Annville-Cleona

The AA boys’ race featured 30 full teams and 199 runners. Annville-Cleona placed 4th overall behind medal-winning Oliver Funck, who finished 13th in 17:11.5. Other top finishers for the Dutchmen included David Moran (27th, 17:49.6), Benjamin Boyd (41st, 18:07.4), Luke Tshudy (49th, 18:21.4), Z Moyer (91st, 19:18.7), Hunter Troxell (94th, 19:21.3), and Gradyn Sanders (114th, 19:45.2).

Hughesville claimed the team title with 142 points, with Quaker Valley’s Jonah Montagnese taking the individual win in 16:13.1. Lakeview earned the A team championship.

Ben Bloser Bulldog Invitational

The annual Ben Bloser Bulldog Invitational, hosted at Big Spring High School in Newville, drew a deep field of competitors from across Pennsylvania on Saturday. Lebanon County was represented by Cedar Crest and Northern Lebanon, with several athletes breaking into the top 30 to earn medals.

Cedar Crest’s Makenzie Wamsher led the way with a 6th-place finish in the AAA Girls race, while teammates Zachary Margut (25th), Wyatt Wolfe (29th), and Anthony Figueroa (37th) medaled on the boys’ side.

Northern Lebanon also shined in the AA Boys race, where Luke Hentz (13th), Thaddeus Raub (18th), and Anthony Frederick (20th) each claimed top-30 honors.

 

AAA Girls – Cedar Crest

Cedar Crest competed in the AAA Girls race, which featured 188 finishers representing 33 schools. Since the Falcons only ran four athletes, they did not qualify for a team score, however Makenzie Wamsher walked away with a medal with her 6th place finish.

Cedar Crest competed in the AAA Boys race, which featured 198 finishers representing 31 schools. The Falcons placed 5th as a team, with Zach Margut and Wyatt Wolfe each earning individual medals.

Whippets XC Invitational

The Whippets XC Invitational, hosted by Downingtown West, brought together a large field of teams from across southeastern Pennsylvania. Lebanon County runners hit the turnpike to compete in the event, facing strong competition and challenging course conditions.

 

Boys

The varsity boys’ race featured 43 schools and 277 athletes. Lebanon placed 24th as a team.
