Shea Moyer

Northern Lebanon junior Shea Moyer has established herself as one of the county’s most dominant volleyball players, and her play to open September proved why she is a difference-maker for the Lady Vikings. During the week of September 1st, Moyer turned in an outstanding two-match stretch, contributing 28 kills, 7 digs, 6 aces, and 2 blocks to lead her team to victories over Donegal and Columbia. Her  ability to impact the game in multiple ways earned her recognition as LebCo Athlete of the Week.

Moyer has continued to showcase her full skill set beyond those early-season wins. She pointed to her match against Octorara as one of her highlights, where she recorded 7 kills, 11 digs, and 7 aces, including a dominant serving run of 12 straight points in the third set to close out the victory.

Even in defeat, she has made her presence felt—such as her 19-kill performance against ELCO on September 8th, where she “played her absolute heart out.” That effort was part of her continued hot streak, as she tallied 40 kills across three matches last week, further proving her reliability at the net.

For Moyer, the season is about both personal and team growth. She has her eye on a major milestone of 1,000 career kills, while also striving to improve her mental toughness and volleyball IQ. “Some personal goals for this season are to tally up kills to eventually accomplish 1,000 career kills, as well as work on my mental headspace while playing,” she said. She is also motivated to earn Section All-Star First Team honors for the third straight year, with the ultimate aim of capturing the Section All-Star MVP.

As a team captain, Moyer has embraced her leadership role and is determined to help the Lady Vikings reach their goals. “Our overall team goals this year were to outright win the section title,” she said. “We have worked in and out of practice for this, and as a team captain and leader I am certain we will accomplish this goal.”

Head Coach Angie Peirce praised both Moyer’s ability and character: “Shea has been and continues to help lead this team by her strong play and work ethic. Having her energy and dedication is a testament to her success. She is a player that makes a coach very proud!”

Moyer credits her parents for their unwavering support and sacrifices, while also recognizing the role of Peirce in her development. She added that overcoming challenges last season—including struggles with confidence and self-worth—has helped shape her into a stronger player this year. She pointed to her club coach, Libby at the Nook, for providing resources that strengthened her mental game and gave her the boost she needed heading into the fall.

Off the court, Moyer also competes in track and field and has long-term plans to study International Business in college while continuing her volleyball career. Athletics run in the family, as her father played Division II baseball at Lock Haven University.

Away from sports, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and, fun fact—her favorite pregame snack is applesauce.

At the heart of it all, Moyer values the lessons athletics bring. “I enjoy the hard work of being an athlete and the life lessons sports can give you,” she said. “Also, being able to compete against other teams, and most importantly, win!”

With her powerful all-around game, sharpened mental toughness, and natural leadership, Shea Moyer continues to fuel Northern Lebanon’s success. The Lady Vikings are currently 5-2, and with Moyer leading the way, they look poised to contend for their section goals and beyond.
