Cameron Blouch
On August 28th, the Cedar Crest Girls Soccer Team defeated Twin Valley by a score of 3-0. In the game, midfielder Cameron Blouch scored two goals to power the Falcon offense. As a result, the sophomore was voted as a LebCo Female Athlete of the Week.
About the win over Twin Valley, Blouch avoided taking any credit for herself, instead saying, “It was a good team effort. We played well together and were able to get a good win.”
It is this team chemistry that has resulted in a 4-1 start for Cedar Crest. In addition to her two goals, Blouch has assisted her teammates three times. With unselfish play, the team has outscored its opponents 15-4 through the first five games.
Blouch describes her role on the team as being “able to adjust to playing on the wing and take part in a few goals this season and help us win games.”
She credits last week’s Athlete of the Week, Alaina Miller, for aiding her development into a solid varsity-level player. Of Miller, Blouch said, “She has been very supportive the last two years, and she makes everyone else look good. Both of my goals were because she played me a perfect pass. She does an amazing job finishing.”
Outside of interscholastic Soccer, Blouch plays as a member of PA Classics 09 Academy. She is also a member of the Cedar Crest Girls Basketball Team. At home, Blouch has the support of her parents, who were both standout athletes. Her mother (Julie) played Field Hockey at Penn State University, while her father (Chris) played Soccer at Kutztown University. Like her father, Blouch hopes to also compete at the collegiate level in the sport of Soccer.
While college is a future goal, Blouch can now focus on helping her team win. The goal is Districts and, from there, putting together a lengthy postseason run. We wish Cameron and her teammates all the best this season in reaching their goals.

Scarlett Meyer
The Lebanon Girls Tennis Team picked up an early season victory when they defeated Donegal by a score of 4-3 on Thursday, August 29th. While the win was a total team effort, a major part of the victory was the play of Scarlett Meyer. The junior won her Doubles match with partner Whitney Bartal and then provided a win in the deciding match, defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-0 out of the #4 Singles slot. It was this performance that led to Meyer being voted a LebCo Female Athlete of the Week.
Meyer said of her performance against Donegal: “Whitney and I had great communication and ball placement that helped us beat our opponents. That win boosted my confidence and put me in the right mindset to win my singles match.”
So far this season, Meyer is 4-2 in Singles play and also 4-2 when paired with Bartal. Meyer’s steady improvement in the sport represents a newfound competitiveness that is being shown by the Cedars under 2nd year Head Coach Morgan Brady. Lebanon is seemingly battling for every point and taking games and matches from teams that would have otherwise walked away prior with scores of 6-0, 6-0. This is not the case anymore, even as Lebanon has now bumped up to Lancaster Lebanon League’s Section 1 and is set to face several powerhouse squads this season.
Meyer sees her role on the team as “consistently bringing a positive attitude and strong work ethic to every practice and match.”
In terms of practice, Meyer has set her personal goals as “improving my serve and backhand, increasing my overall match consistency, and helping the team win more matches.”
Lebanon’s assistant coaches each credited Meyer for the attributes that have led to her becoming a strong tennis player that will allow her to reach those goals.
Coach Long said of Meyer, “She’s truly resilient when it comes to any challenges she faces in her matches. She’s also incredibly committed to not only the sport but her team.”
Coach Heefner similarly praised Meyer, stating, ““Scarlett is tenacious and gives every match her best effort, which is often reflected in the outcome.”
For Brady, who has known Meyer in her musical endeavors, this level of excellence has not come as a surprise. Brady said, “As someone who has known Scarlett since she was in elementary school, it has been an honor to experience her successes throughout her years in the district. As her teacher, she excelled academically in the classroom. As her choir director, she was an integral part of the ensemble and a leader within her section. As her musical director, she showed professionalism and commitment from a very young age. Now, as her coach, she has proven herself time and again on the court as a player who always strives to be better while still enjoying the game and time with her teammates. She’s a true triple threat in my book (academics, sports, and the arts). Scarlett brings her work ethic and humor to every practice and has been a contributing member of the team since she was a freshman.”
Yes, there is a lot of talk about music, and for good reason. Since the age of seven, Meyer has appeared in over thirty theatrical productions. She is a dance student at Movement Laboratory, where she has been training for the past eleven years under Judy Williams Henry in all forms of dance. Beyond that, Meyer is heavily involved in Lebanon High School’s Music Department and the marching band’s color guard and takes private vocal lessons. Every Spring (sans 2020) since she was in 5th grade, Meyer has had a role in the annual musical at Lebanon High School. Last year, she was impressive in the role of young Anastasia.
While Meyer has not been primarily known for her athletics (though dancing five days a week is pretty athletic), the ability to perform at a high level runs in her family. Unbeknownst to us at LebCoSports.com prior to conducting this most recent round of voting, she is not the first member of her family to win this award. Her cousin is Cedar Crest running back Isaiah Zimmerman, who just last week claimed honors as the LebCo Male Athlete of the Week.
In terms of long-term goals, Meyer would like to go on to college to study Music Education and Vocal Performance or Musical Theatre, turning her long-term passion into a career.
We wish Scarlett and her teammates the best of luck on the courts this season as they continue to improve with each match.
