While a large number of local football stars recently announced their college plans, there was one who had not. The absence of Fernando Marquez from this list left many questioning what colleges weren’t seeing when looking at the Cedar Crest running back. With his decision, Marquez will be joining Jake Williams (ELCO/Bloomsburg), Luke Shaffer (Northern Lebanon/Clarion), Josiah Wright (Lebanon/Seton Hill), Mina Elzek (Annville-Cleona/Seton Hill), Caleb Dorshimer (Cedar Crest/Lock Haven), and Jonathan McDannell (Palmyra / Mansfield) as members of the Class of 2024 who plan to play NCAA DII Football in the PSAC. Williams Makes His Decision
On Monday, Jake Williams made his decision known as to where he intends to play college football. Announcing his commitment via X/Twitter, the ELCO running back let the world know that he will attend Bloomsburg University, a member of NCAA’s Division II PSAC. The All-State selection, who rushed for 2,402 his senior year, will join his brother, who is already a vital member of the Husky defense. For father, Bob “Bo” Williams, who played linebacker for the University of Delaware in the 1980s, this will be his third son playing collegiately as Erik Williams just finished his senior season playing at LVC. There are still two more boys in ELCO’s system, including Paul, who just finished a successful sophomore season playing both sides of the line. Jake’s mother and sister both played field hockey at the collegiate level.
