LebCo Rivals Trade Wins as Northern Lebanon Girls, ELCO Boys Take Section 3 Meet

On Monday, Northern Lebanon hosted ELCO in a Section 3 matchup between the two Lebanon County teams that had just spent Friday night competing against each other at the Lebanon County Track & Field Championships. With warm weather and ideal conditions in place, both teams turned in a strong night of performances in another competitive county clash.

When it was over, Northern Lebanon claimed the girls meet by an 87-63 margin, while ELCO answered with a 69-57 victory in the boys competition.

Girls Recap: Northern Lebanon 87, ELCO 63

Northern Lebanon used strong distance running, relay success, and key field-event points to pull away for the girls win. The Vikings won the 4x800m Relay, 100m Dash, 1600m Run, 400m Dash, 800m Run, 3200m Run, 4x400m Relay, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, and Discus.

Zoey Bouchard and Haley Oliver helped set the tone on the track. Bouchard won the 800m in 2:40.33 after Northern Lebanon also got a 1600m victory from Maura Grubb. Oliver added a win in the 400m, while the Vikings’ distance group continued to stack points with wins in the 3200m and both longer relays.

Northern Lebanon also found major production in the jumps. Mackenzie Miller swept the horizontal jumps by taking the Long Jump and Triple Jump, while Jobrianna Long added a Pole Vault win. The Vikings also got important placings from Saoirse Phillips, Elsie Shuey, Alexis Schreckengost, and Emily Weimer.

ELCO more than held its own, especially in the hurdles, sprints, and throws. Bre Etherson won the 100m Hurdles, Maddie Nelson captured both the 300m Hurdles and 200m, and the Raiders also won the 4x100m Relay. In the field, Seyitan Adewale won the High Jump, Kenzie Eckhart took the Shot Put, and ELCO added strong placings from Julia Wenger, Kayla Edris, Claire Jacoby, and Miley Bowers.

That balance helped the Raiders keep the meet competitive throughout, even as Northern Lebanon’s depth gradually created separation.

Boys Recap: ELCO 69, Northern Lebanon 57

ELCO leaned on its sprint strength and throwing depth to secure the boys meet, while Northern Lebanon countered with wins in the distance races, relays, and selected field events.

The Raiders controlled several of the short events. Eddie Pena won the 110m Hurdles, Darryl Legrande won the 100m Dash, and ELCO also captured the 4x100m Relay. In the field, Avery Kurtz swept the Discus and Shot Put, while ELCO also got victories from Jacob Kuhne in the Triple Jump and Angel Fernandez in the High Jump.

Northern Lebanon, though, kept constant pressure on ELCO through its distance group. Luke Hentz won both the 1600m and 800m, while Brady Ryan doubled back to claim victories in the 400m and 200m. The Vikings also won the 4x800m Relay and 4x400m Relay to keep the meet close heading into the later events.

The field events also featured big efforts from both teams. Cody Leedy won the Long Jump for Northern Lebanon, while Evan Snyder added a Pole Vault win. The Vikings also found important points from Connor Troxell, Tucker Reiber, Collin Cheslock, and Johnny Hilton. For ELCO, Ben Macchione, Cole Doster, Mason Yoder, Sam Keener, and Justin Ambris all contributed key placings.

In the end, ELCO’s ability to pile up points in the sprints and throws proved decisive enough to send the Raiders home with the boys victory.
