Falcons Start Fast, but Daniel Boone Spoils Cedar Crest’s Night
A day after Manheim Township broke their three game winning streak, Cedar Crest made the long trip to Birdsboro on Thursday and looked ready to come away with a non-league road win, but Daniel Boone answered a fast Falcons start with a big 3rd inning and went on to hand Cedar Crest an 11-7 setback.
The Falcons wasted little time putting pressure on the home team in the 1st. Mason Cevette delivered an RBI single, Chase Ruhl ripped a two-run double, and Cedar Crest took advantage of early traffic to build a 4-0 lead.
Cedar Crest added another run in the 3rd when Carson DiBiaso lined an RBI single down the left field line to make it 5-2. But Daniel Boone flipped the game in the bottom half of that inning, scoring five times to take control. The biggest swing came on a two-run double by Bell as the hosts turned a three-run deficit into a 7-5 lead.
The Falcons continued to battle offensively. Lucas Schreier, Isaac Kreider, and DiBiaso each finished with two hits, while Ruhl and Kreider drove in two runs apiece. Cedar Crest also turned three double plays in the field, but Daniel Boone’s patience at the plate proved costly, as the hosts drew seven walks and finished with 12 hits.
Chase Norris took the loss on the mound for Cedar Crest after working 3.1 innings. Carson DiBiaso gave the Falcons 2.2 innings of relief and allowed just one earned run. Daniel Boone got the win from Packer, who worked four innings before turning it over to relief help.
Daniel Boone was led offensively by Bell, Jones, and Banas, who each had two hits. Bell, Jones, Howells, and Kriebel all drove in two runs for the hosts, who erased Cedar Crest’s early advantage and never gave it back.
Cedar Crest, now 6-5, will look to turn the page when it returns to action on Monday at home against Penn Manor.
