2024 District 3 Golf Championships: LebCo Results

On Saturday, the District 3 AA & AAA Golf Championships had their second and final rounds. The event was held at Honey Run Golf Club in Dover. The first round of the AAA Championship was held on Thursday, while the AA portion was held on Friday. The perfect weather conditions welcomed the remaining golfers to play the final eighteen holes for a chance to qualify for the PIAA State Championships, which are set to be held beginning October 21st at Penn State University.

In the AAA event, Cedar Crest’s Dylan Ramsey was back in action, looking to qualify for his third straight State Championship in as many years playing varsity. He made the first round cut by shooting a 73 on Thursday and entered Round 2, sitting in 7th place. On Saturday, he remained consistent, as he again fired a 73. This meant that he finished +2 over the 36-hole competition. As a result of his work on Saturday, Ramsey moved up three spots to finish 4th, earning him the chance to return to Penn State.

On the AA side, Annville-Cleona’s Logan Francis finished Day 1 in 2nd place after shooting a 78 (+6). On Saturday, Francis improved upon his score to card a 75 (+3). Matching Francis was Pequea Valley’s Cole Stoltzfus, who shot a 78/75 to finish in a tie on the top of the leaderboard. The two young men engaged in a playoff, a thrilling back-and-forth battle that lasted until the third round when Stoltzfus was finally able to get by Francis. As a result, Francis finished in 2nd place and earned himself the opportunity to travel to State College again this year.

Both Ramsey and Francis are juniors, and both improved upon their finishes at last year’s District 3 Championships. In 2023, Ramsey placed 11th, while Francis finished 4th. We will be watching closely as they look to finish high on the leaderboard when they are matched against the best golfers in the State. Last season, Ramsey placed 40th in the State after being crowned as the only freshman to win the PIAA State Championship when he took the tournament by storm in 2022. In 2023, Francis finished 11th in his first experience golfing at the State level.

In addition to Ramsey and Francis, there were five additional LebCo golfers who competed at Districts. Only Cedar Crest’s Ethan Rader was fortunate enough to make the cut after the first eighteen holes. The senior ended Saturday, finishing 28th overall. The other golfers who competed were a trio from Cedar Crest: Carson DiBiaso, Isaac Wolfe, and Davin Kolter, along with Annville’s Wesley Heller.

Below are the full results as to how each golfer fared in the competition.
