Long Joins Collegiate Coaching Ranks

Last week, Mount Saint Mary’s announced that they added Tyler Long to the coaching staff for the 2025 Baseball season. Long, a 2020 graduate of Annville-Cleona, spent the last four years as the Mount’s starting shortstop, where he set the school record with 148 runs scored. He also ranks second for the number of times he got hit by pitches and tied for second for drawing walks. Long will serve as the program’s Director of Baseball Operations. Lantz Named All-American

Palmyra’s Morgan Lantz was recently named an All-American by USA Lacrosse for her play this past season. The senior capped off her high school career by leading the Cougars into the District 3 Playoffs. She leaves Palmyra having scored 306 goals and tallying 109 assists. Along with her 415 points, Lantz is the school record holder in all three categories. Additionally, Lantz had over 300 draw controls and forced over 100 turnovers. She will be headed to UMass-Lowell this Fall, continuing her lacrosse career by playing at the NCAA Division I level. Congrats, Morgan! (published 7/23 @ 5:00 am)





 

Two LebCo Baseball Players Announce College Plans

Two rising seniors on the LebCo Baseball scene recently took to social media to announce where they have committed to continue their playing careers once they graduate next June.

First, Palmyra’s Blake Deiter announced last week that he committed to Dean College, a private college located in Franklin, Massachusetts. In 14 games last season, Deiter batted .250 with a .290 OBP.

On Sunday, Annville-Cleona/New Covenant’s Colten Shaffer announced his commitment to play at Millersville University. A student at New Covenant, Shaffer plays for Annville under the co-op arrangement between the two schools. This past season, Shaffer posted a 1.07 ERA in 45.2 innings of work, resulting in 71 Ks. Francis Qualifies for Junior Golf National Championship

Last week, Annville-Cleona rising junior Logan Francis competed in the New Jersey Regional qualifier for the Junior Golf National Championship. Francis, the Lancaster Lebanon League AA Champion in 2023, took on the course at Running Deer Golf Club and carded a -3 in the 36-hole event. He then birdied a playoff hole to take 2nd overall. His finish means that he will be one of two golfers from Regionals and one of only 150 golfers nationwide who has earned a spot at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship. The event will be held November 8-10 at Kaasati Pines in Kinder, Louisiana. As an added bonus, this tournament will be televised on the Golf Network. (published 7/23 @ 5:00 am)





 

Miller Signs with Marlins

After being drafted last Monday in the 3rd round of the MLB Draft, Gage Miller was in Miami on Saturday to sign his rookie contract with the Marlins. The draft position in which the 2021 graduate of Palmyra was selected carries a slotted value of value of $800,800. Below are photos taken by the Miller family and shared with LebCoSports.com. We wish Gage all the best as he suits up in rookie ball and begins his climb to the Majors.
