District 3 Swim Championships – 2024: Full LebCo Results

On Friday and Saturday, the District 3 Swim Championships took place this weekend at Cumberland Valley High School. Combined with the Diving Championships that took place last weekend, LebCo athletes claimed eleven medals, including a gold. Two local athletes picked up automatic bids for the PIAA State Championship, while several others will be waiting for the list of qualifiers to be published.

The Diving Championships took place last weekend and featured a pair of divers from Kristen Thai and Elaina Potter, finishing 6th and 7th, respectively. Thai qualified for the PIAA State Championships that are set to take place at Bucknell in two weeks.

On Friday night, swimmers got into the pool for their opportunity to reach the podium and possibly put forth a performance worthy of State qualification. The competition witnessed four LebCo swimmers earn medals. Northern Lebanon’s Carter Cheslock was the highest local finisher, taking 4th in the 100-yard Fly (AA). Also medaling in the AA competition was Annville-Cleona’s Danny Trate, with a 5th-place finish in the 50-yard Freestyle. In AAA, Lebanon had a pair of medalists, with Will Parker taking 6th in the 50-yard Freestyle and Jomar Hidalgo earning 7th in the 200-yard Individual Medley.

On Saturday, the competition continued, with LebCo athletes adding five more medals. The medal-winning performances were highlighted by Lebanon’s Will Parker, who took 1st in the 100-yard Breaststroke (AAA). Parker’s freshman teammate, Jomar Hidalgo, also won his second medal of the meet, taking bronze in the 100-yard Backstroke (AAA). Northern Lebanon won two medals, with the Cheslock brothers each putting forth performances that far outpaced their entry times. Senior Carter Cheslock won his second medal when he took 7th in the 100-yard Freestyle (AA). Collin Cheslock, a sophomore, took 5th in the 100-yard Breaststroke (AA). Fellow sophomore Danny Trate of Annville joined the multi-medal club when he finished 5th in the 100-yard Freestyle (AA).

Keep in mind that just qualifying for the District 3 Championships is an accomplishment. We’d like to congratulate everyone on their performances. We wish the best of luck to those who will find out soon that they have made it to the States. 

It is important to note that while the top eight in each event medal, only the first-place finisher is guaranteed a spot at the PIAA State Championships. All other top performances are provisional and will be considered for State entry. All medalists are highlights in this color.
