Shea Moyer

For Northern Lebanon senior Shea Moyer, the week of September 21st included an individual milestone years in the making while also producing exactly what she wanted most for the Vikings: 3 more victories.
The biggest moment came during a 5-set battle against Blue Mountain. Moyer hammered down 24 kills as Northern Lebanon earned a 3-2 victory, and along the way, the senior recorded the 800th kill of her varsity career. The Vikings followed with consecutive 3-0 sweeps of Columbia and Lebanon, completing a perfect week in which they won 9 of 11 sets. Moyer continued contributing with kills and digs throughout the stretch, helping Northern Lebanon maintain its strong play.
The success continued into the following week. Northern Lebanon defeated Lancaster Catholic to extend its winning streak to 4 matches before the run finally ended in a 5-set thriller against Octorara. Moyer’s performance during the unbeaten week, highlighted by reaching the 800-kill milestone against Blue Mountain, earned her LebCo Athlete of the Week honors.
Reaching 800 kills represented another significant accomplishment in what has already been an impressive high school career. Moyer entered her senior season as the reigning Lancaster-Lebanon League Section MVP and a 3-time First Team Section selection. Those accomplishments have also raised expectations for her final season.

Moyer acknowledged that being the reigning Section MVP puts a target on her back, but she has tried to embrace the challenge rather than allow it to become a burden. A major part of that has involved strengthening the mental side of her game.
“If you know me, I focus a lot on my mental health and the mental health of athletes,” Moyer said. “It’s super important to be mentally tough when you’re out on the court, and that’s something that I’m challenging myself and others to do every game.”
Her goals reflect the expectations she has for herself. Moyer wants to reach 1,000 career kills, earn First Team Section honors for a fourth time, repeat as MVP, and add All-District and All-State recognition. Yet some of her biggest goals have nothing to do with individual awards.
Northern Lebanon entered the season determined to compete for a Section championship while developing into a positive and disciplined team. Moyer sees herself as someone responsible for helping establish that environment, whether during matches or practices.
“We are all bought in to the same game plan,” Moyer said. “I try my best in practice to push everyone and create an environment where we can ball out and play our best volleyball.”
That team-first approach is also reflected in the people Moyer credits for helping her reach this point. She is particularly thankful for the support her parents have provided throughout the past 8 years of her volleyball career, along with Coach Angie and her Northern Lebanon teammates. Without the time, financial commitment, and support from her parents, Moyer said her volleyball journey would not have been possible.
Volleyball will remain a major part of what comes next for Moyer. She plans to attend York College of Pennsylvania, where she will continue her playing career while studying Business Management and minoring in Marketing. She also hopes to earn her MBA and eventually own a business.
Moyer’s desire to compete collegiately has a family connection as well, as Moyer’s father played baseball at Lock Haven University and inspired her to pursue the opportunity to become a college athlete herself.
Volleyball is not Moyer’s only athletic pursuit at Northern Lebanon. She also competes as a sprinter for the Vikings’ Track & Field team. Even when she is not at practice, Moyer tends to stay active through lifting and running while also making time to spend with friends.

Outside of athletics, Moyer enjoys country music, particularly Morgan Wallen, and admits that a trip to Starbucks is part of her routine almost every day.
For all she has accomplished, volleyball provides Moyer with something more meaningful than statistics, awards, and competition.
“The thing I enjoy most about participating in sports is the competition and the high-level energy that comes from it,” Moyer said. “Volleyball has given me some of my best friends, and it’s my escape from reality.”
Moyer also appreciates what her Athlete of the Week recognition represents beyond Northern Lebanon.
“I’m very proud to be representing the volleyball community of Lebanon County,” Moyer said. “I’m super excited to see where volleyball goes within our county and the great athletes that represent the sport.”
With 800 career kills now behind her, Moyer still has plenty she wants to accomplish. There is the pursuit of 1,000, the individual honors she hopes to earn, and an opportunity to continue her career at York College. Before any of that, however, there is still a senior season to finish and a Section championship to chase alongside her teammates.
Congratulations to Shea on earning LebCo Athlete of the Week honors, and best of luck to her and the Vikings throughout the remainder of the season and into the postseason.
