Lebanon Shows Bright Spots Against Hempfield in Home Dual Meet
In its second meet of the season, Lebanon was back at home on Tuesday to host Hempfield in a dual-meet matchup. The Cedars ran into one of the Lancaster-Lebanon League’s deeper teams, but still came away with a number of encouraging performances across both the girls and boys competitions.
Hempfield won the girls meet, 130-20, and also took the boys meet, 104-46, while Lebanon moved to 0-2 on both sides. The Cedars still produced several event victories, with the boys claiming wins in the 1600m, high jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus, while the girls earned a win in the long jump.
Girls Recap: Hempfield 130, Lebanon 20
Lebanon’s biggest girls highlight came from Cayleigh Shaak, who won the long jump with a leap of 16’6.75″. Shaakalso added a second-place finish in the triple jump and was Lebanon’s top track finisher by placing third in the 100m in 13.33. Natalina Harrison had a productive meet as well, taking second in the high jump, third in the triple jump, and fifth in the long jump, while Nina Lampkin turned in a pair of runner-up finishes in the shot put and discus.
Lebanon also picked up points from Lizbeth Ortiz, who was third in the javelin, and Julianiliz Vazquez, who tied for fourth in the pole vault. The Cedars were able to show flashes in the field events, where they were most competitive throughout the afternoon.
For Hempfield, Bella Heisey swept the hurdle races by winning the 100m hurdles in 16.20 and the 300m hurdles in 51.31, while Izzy Heisey won the 200m and finished second in the 100m. Alexis Givler won the 100m and placed second in the 200m, Giuliana Houseman completed a distance sweep by taking both the 1600m and 800m, and Evelyn Gates won both the shot put and discus. Hempfield also captured all three relays and got wins from Talia Leber in the 400m, Olive Boyer in the high jump, Sophia Hamby in the pole vault, Elli Yaeger in the triple jump, Hyrije Trinaku in the 3200m, and Iyrie Yoder in the javelin.

Boys Recap: Hempfield 104, Lebanon 46
Lebanon’s boys turned in several of the team’s best performances of the day. Thadeous Gilbert won the 1600m in 4:46.18, edging Hempfield’s Carlo Abello by less than half a second in one of the closest races on the track. In the field events, Eddie Ferrer stood out with wins in both the high jump and triple jump, while Camron Buchmoyer won the shot put and added a second-place finish in the javelin.
The Cedars also got a first-place finish from Tyler Reigle in the discus, plus a runner-up in the shot put. Gauge Solidayadded to Lebanon’s scoring with a second-place finish in the triple jump, third in the high jump, and third in the long jump, while Samuel Hershey took second in the 3200m and Jonas Tejada finished second in the 400m.
Hempfield’s boys countered with a balanced effort across the track. Phillip Poole won both the 100m and 200m, William Newport captured the 400m and shared first in the pole vault, and Malakai Martin won the 300m hurdles after finishing second in the 110m hurdles. Donovan Gordan took the 110m hurdles and was second in the 300m hurdles, Spencer Ashba won the 800m, and Liam Hodge claimed the 3200m. Hempfield also won all four relays contested on the boys side and got field-event victories from Gabe Williams in the long jump and Greyson Sweitzer in the javelin.

What’s Next?
Lebanon’s girls and boys teams are both 0-2, but the growth means more than the records. The Cedars will continue their journey as they are next scheduled to compete at Tulpehocken’s Sterling Hoffman Invitational on Friday and Hempfield’s Black Knight Invitational on Saturday before returning to dual-meet action on Monday with a road trip to McCaskey.
