Lebanon Opens Season with Several Strong Performances Against Manheim Township

On a fine spring Monday in what marked the season opener for Lebanon, the Cedars hosted Manheim Township for a dual meet that featured a handful of strong individual efforts from the home side, even as the Blue Streaks controlled most of the event scoring. Based on standard dual-meet scoring from the uploaded results, Manheim Township won the boys meet 110-40 and the girls meet 128-22.

Manheim Township’s girls controlled the meet with depth across the sprints, distance races, hurdles, relays, and field events. Lebanon still had a number of notable performances, led by Cayleigh Shaak, who took 2nd in the 100m and 2nd in the long jump while also finishing 3rd in the triple jump. Olive Brandt added a strong all-around day as well, placing 4th in the 300 hurdles, 4th in the long jump, and 6th in the triple jump.

The Cedars also got runner-up finishes from Caradlih Valdes in the pole vault, Nevaeh Delapaz in the discus, and Nina Lampkin in the shot put. In the jumps, Natalina Harrison finished 2nd in the triple jump and tied for 4th in the high jump, while Luisa Ortegon and Lizbeth Ortiz added more points in multiple field events.

Manheim Township’s strength was overwhelming throughout the girls meet. Michaela Katz won both the 200m and 400m and also captured the triple jump. Kaila Atteberry won the 1600m, took 3rd in the 300 hurdles, and won the high jump, while Ege Papadimitriou swept the discus, javelin, and shot put. The Blue Streaks also took all three distance races, both hurdle races, and all three relays.

Boys Recap: Manheim Township 110, Lebanon 40

Lebanon’s boys had more success pushing back against Manheim Township, highlighted by event wins from Thadeous Gilbert, Eddie Ferrer, and Camron Buchmoyer. Gilbert won both the 400m and 800m, giving the Cedars a pair of big track victories, while Ferrer won the long jump, placed 3rd in the high jump, and finished 2nd in the triple jump. Buchmoyer added another win in the javelin and also placed 4th in the shot put.

Lebanon also got strong contributions from Tyler Reigle, who finished 2nd in the discus, 2nd in the shot put, and 8th in the javelin, along with Samuel Hershey, who placed 3rd in both the 800m and 3200m. The Cedars won the 4x100m relay and got additional scoring from Jaeqwan Johnson, Darryl Watson, Jovannie Martinez, Simon Howard, and Gauge Soliday.

Manheim Township’s boys, though, piled up points almost everywhere else. The Blue Streaks won the 100m, 200m, 1600m, 3200m, both hurdle races, the 4x400m relay, the 4x800m relay, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, discus, and shot put. Cruze Mack stood out with wins in the 300 hurdles and triple jump while also sharing the top height in the high jump.
