PIAA State Tournament – Semifinals
AA: Palmyra 1, Mt. Saint Jospeh 0 (@ Liberty HS)
The Palmyra Cougars are headed back to the PIAA State Championship Game after earning a gritty 1–0 victory over Mount Saint Joseph in Tuesday’s state semifinal matchup.
The game’s lone goal came early, when Maddie Witt broke through with a first-quarter field goal at the 11:27 mark, giving Palmyra a lead they would not relinquish. From there, the Cougars’ defense stood tall, limiting Mount Saint Joseph to just one shot on goal the entire contest.
Goalkeeper Abby Bennett made the save she needed to preserve the shutout, while Palmyra generated steady offensive pressure with six corners and four shots on goal.
With the win, Palmyra advances to the PIAA Class 2A State Championship, where they’ll look to complete their postseason run with a title. Their opponent in Saturday’s State Championship: Warwick
