Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Eliana Schneider (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Cross Country: Running in her fourth PIAA State Championship, Schneider clocked a time of 20:51 to place 107th in the AAA race, closing out a strong high school career.
Mackenzie Stellmach (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior earned a 13th-place finish at the PIAA Class AA State Championships, marking her fourth State appearance and second State medal. She also led the Dutchmen to a 9th-place team finish.
AJ Walker (Palmyra / Sr.) – Field Hockey: The senior scored the opening goal in both the PIAA District 3 Semifinal and Championship games, helping Palmyra defeat Northern York 2-0 and Warwick 5-0 to capture the program’s 16th District Championship.
Male Nominees
Cornelius Cummings (Palmyra / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior finished 42nd at the PIAA State Championships with a time of 16:56 in the AAA race, capping off another impressive season for the Cougars.
Anthony Figueroa (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Cross Country: At the PIAA State Championship Meet, Figueroa placed 90th with a time of 17:15, helping Cedar Crest — led by State Champion Travis Furmanski — to a 14th-place team finish in the AAA standings.
Oliver Funck (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior placed 9th at the PIAA Class AA State Championships, earning his third career XC State medal. It marked his fourth consecutive State qualification, as he led the Dutchmen to a 5th-place team finish alongside fellow senior David Moran (18th).
Ellis Gensamer (ELCO / Sr.) – Football: The senior running back carried 25 times for 194 yards and two touchdowns, adding a two-point conversion to help lead the Raiders to a 28-21 District 3 Class 4A First Round victory over Kennard-Dale.
Luke Hentz (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Cross Country: Hentz led the Vikings at the PIAA Class AA Championships, finishing 57th in 17:42 as Northern Lebanon placed 16th overall in the team standings.
