Bryn Brandt

Cedar Crest freshman Bryn Brandt has wasted no time making her mark on the high school golf scene. After winning the District 3 Girls Golf Championship, Brandt closed out her first season by finishing 8th at the PIAA State Championships among the AAA field. Her strong play also helped lead the Falcons to a 6th-place finish in the team competition — punctuated by an eagle on the final hole of the season. For her outstanding achievements, Brandt was selected as the LebCo Athlete of the Week.
“Overall, I’m very proud of my performance this school golf season,” said Brandt. “I was glad to win districts and place 8th at states. My practice is definitely paying off.”
Heading into the season, Brandt set ambitious goals for herself. “My goals for this season were to shoot under par and score consistently in the 70s,” she said. “I’m excited that I met these goals.”
Her performance not only met personal milestones but also helped the Falcons achieve team success. “One of our team goals was to win leagues and another was to get to states,” Brandt said. “I’m excited we won leagues and played in states for the first time in our school’s history. I’m glad I helped the team by putting up a good score.”

Cedar Crest Head Coach Drew Gates praised Brandt for her poise and consistency. “A top-10 finish at States and the opportunity to help our team compete at States was the icing on the cake to an amazing freshman season for Bryn,” said Gates.
Gates continued: “She played her best golf when it mattered most, and I was so happy to see her win the District 3 Championship. She is mentally tough and brings positive energy to our team. I look forward to seeing what she can accomplish over the course of her high school career.”
Brandt credits her success to those who have supported her along the way. “God for blessing me with the talent to play golf, my mom and dad, Coach Gates for the support this season, and my swing coach, Coach Rob, for helping me with all parts of my game,” she said.
Sports are part of Brandt’s family DNA. Her father played college baseball, and her mother — a former college softball player — is in the Lebanon Valley College Sports Hall of Fame. That background has helped shape Bryn’s competitive spirit and drive to improve.
Outside of golf, Brandt stays active playing club volleyball with Controlled Chaos and enjoys spending time on the court when she’s not on the course. She previously played travel ice hockey beginning at age five — a fun fact that highlights her wide-ranging athleticism.
Looking ahead, Brandt hopes to play Division I golf and pursue a career in the golf field.
“I love the team aspect of sports and the feeling you get when you’re playing in them,” she said. “The highs and lows of sports make me want to keep playing.”
Congratulations to Bryn on a solid freshman season. With three years still ahead of her, it will be exciting to see how she continues to develop — as she’s already proven herself to be one of the top young golfers in Pennsylvania.
