Dylan Ramsey

Dylan Ramsey capped off an incredible high school career with a 6th-place finish at the PIAA State Championships, earning a medal for the third time in his career. His efforts also helped Cedar Crest to a 6th-place finish in the State Team Championship. For his performance, Ramsey was named the latest LebCo Athlete of the Week.
Reflecting on his final appearance at States, Ramsey said, “I played some very solid golf at States and was able to keep the ball down with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour. It would have been nice for a few more putts to drop, but overall, I played consistent and smart golf which got me my third top-6 finish at States.”
The senior entered the season looking to win the league scoring title for a fourth straight year — a goal he achieved — while also leading a young Cedar Crest squad that included several freshmen. Despite battling a wrist injury during the season, Ramsey provided steady leadership and consistency that helped the Falcons qualify for States as a team for the first time in program history.

Over his four years with the Falcons, Ramsey put together one of the most impressive careers in Lancaster Lebanon League history. He never shot higher than a 76 in more than 40 matches and postseason events. He claimed four Section 1 scoring titles, four runner-up finishes at the L-L League Tournament, four Top 10 finishes at Districts, and three Top 10 finishes at States — including winning the 2022 PIAA State Championship. His leadership also helped Cedar Crest capture two Section 1 titles and two L-L League Championships, the program’s first league crowns in over two decades.
Cedar Crest golf coach Drew Gates praised Ramsey’s lasting impact on the program, saying, “Dylan has had an incredible high school career and he made making it to States a routine part of the season. Dylan helped our team have a realistic chance to win any match we competed in and helped make our first-ever team appearance at States.”
He added, “Three Top 10 finishes at States, including a state title, is extremely rare to see. Dylan is an impressive golfer, but an even better person. His leadership, consistency, and work ethic will be greatly missed.”

Ramsey credited his dad — who also serves as his coach — for keeping his game sharp, along with Coach Gates and his teammates for making each season fun and memorable. Ramsey, having learned a thing or two, is also known for helping guide the younger golfers on the roster, passing along his experience to ensure the team’s continued success.

Outside of golf, Ramsey enjoys watching his favorite Pittsburgh sports teams — the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins — and notes that he shares something in common with two of his golf idols, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods: all three are colorblind.
Next fall, Ramsey will continue his academic and golf careers at Middle Tennessee State University, where he’ll look to build on his remarkable legacy.
Congratulations to Dylan on being named LebCo Athlete of the Week! And best of luck to him as he looks to continue building his legacy, this time at the collegiate level.
