Girls Soccer: Northern Lebanon Girls Roll Past CD East, Improve to 2-0

Northern Lebanon’s girls soccer team continued its strong start to the season Monday, hitting the road and rolling to a 10-0 victory over Central Dauphin East.

After scoring four times in the second half to defeat Annville-Cleona 4-1 in Friday’s season opener, the Lady Vikings wasted little time getting the offense going against the Panthers. Emma Heagy opened the scoring just one minute into the game off an assist from Hope Shaffer, then struck again in the sixth minute with Emily Marinkov providing the assist.

Hope Shaffer made it 3-0 in the 10th minute off an assist from Maura Grubb, before McKenah Carpenter added another goal in the 28th minute. Danika Duffield found the net in the 37th minute, sending Northern Lebanon into halftime firmly in control.

The Lady Vikings continued to add to their advantage after the break. Emma Heagy completed her hat trick in the 44th minute off another assist from Emily Marinkov, then Madison Schmitt scored four minutes later with Heagy picking up the assist.

Emma Heagy wasn’t finished, scoring her fourth goal of the afternoon in the 55th minute. Haley Oliver followed with a goal in the 62nd minute before Alysha Ulrich completed the scoring in the 72nd minute off an assist from McKenah Carpenter.

Northern Lebanon controlled the action throughout, finishing with an 18-0 advantage in shots and an 11-1 edge in corner kicks. The victory also gave the Lady Vikings consecutive wins to begin the season after scoring 14 goals across their opening two matches.

Now 2-0, Northern Lebanon will remain on the road Wednesday when the Lady Vikings travel to Hamburg.

The Northern Lebanon boys were also in action against CD East on Monday, falling 3-0 to the Panthers. The loss moved the Vikings to 1-1 on the young season.
