Dutchmen Post Solid Performances Even as Octorara Claims Both Meets
On Tuesday, Annville-Cleona made the trip to Octorara for a Section 3 dual meet, where the Dutchmen were tested by a strong home side on both the girls and boys sides. In the end, Octorara came away with both team victories. The Braves won the girls meet by a 97-53 margin and took the boys meet by a 102-48 final.
Girls Recap: Octorara 97, Annville-Cleona 53
Annville-Cleona’s girls found some bright spots despite running into a deep Octorara lineup. The Dutchmen picked up wins in the 1600m, shot put, discus and javelin, with some of their best work coming in the distance and throws.
Mackenzie Stellmach delivered Annville-Cleona’s lone track win, taking the 1600m in 5:29. Dana Hoover added a win in the shot put with a throw of 28’9″, then returned to claim first in the discus at 75’7″. In the javelin, Anabella Pulaski gave Annville-Cleona another first-place finish with a winning throw of 108’6.5″.
The Dutchmen also got strong scoring efforts from Madison Long, who finished second in both the long jump and triple jump. Caitlin Shay added a runner-up finish in the 300m hurdles, while Teige Christiansen, Georgia Sellers and Lucy Stellmach helped AC stack points in the track events.
