Cedar Crest Turns the Page with 12-2 Win Over McCaskey

After dropping back-to-back games to Hempfield and Warwick, the Falcons opened the new week looking to get back on track. Cedar Crest did just that on Monday, using steady offense and a clean effort in the circle to roll past J.P. McCaskey 12-2.

Ali Groff set the tone offensively, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate as Cedar Crest piled up 11 hits. Groff singled in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings, helping the Falcons keep pressure on McCaskey throughout the afternoon.

Cedar Crest grabbed the lead in the 1st, taking advantage of two Red Tornado errors to score twice. In the 2nd, the Falcons added three more runs to build early separation, with RBI errors helping extend the margin. Cedar Crest pushed across another run in the 3rd when Kate Poorman lined a single down the right field line on an 0-2 pitch.

Addison Nolen gave the Falcons exactly what they needed in the circle, firing five shutout innings while allowing just one hit. Nolen struck out six and walked two before Groff came on in relief to close things out.

At the plate, Poorman drove in two runs from the eighth spot in the order and finished 2-for-3. Angie Orosco also had a strong day, collecting two hits, while Cedar Crest got additional offensive contributions up and down the lineup in the bounce-back win.

For McCaskey, L. Martinez drove in both runs and finished 1-for-3. S. Mumma, K. Gartman, Martinez, and K. Rodriguez each had one hit for the Red Tornado.

Cedar Crest, now 5-5, will travel to face Manheim Township on Wednesday.
