Female Nominees

Dakota Dengler (Northern Lebanon / So.) – Wrestling: At the Regional Championships, Dengler battled her way to a silver medal at 148 pounds. Her run included a tech fall and two major decisions before she fell in the finals. The performance earned her a second straight trip to the PIAA State Championships, where she will look to build on her 27-10 season record.

Kaddel Howard (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Track & Field: At the Pennsylvania Indoor Track & Field Championships, Howard successfully defended her 400m title, making it four straight gold medals in the event. Her time of 53.03 shattered the previous State record of 53.82, which had stood since 2005. She then added gold in the 200m with a time of 23.51, a mark that tied the state record, giving her a second indoor championship in that event.

Saoirse Phillips (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Basketball: Phillips stepped up in a huge way in Northern Lebanon’s win over Lancaster Catholic to claim 3rd place in the District 3 AAAA Tournament. The senior scored 9 points, with 8 coming in the 3rd quarter as the Vikings surged ahead. Earlier in the week, she also scored 8 points in a loss to Delone Catholic, continuing to provide steady secondary scoring as the Vikings prepare for the State Playoffs.

Isabella Poole Martinez (Lebanon / Jr.) – Wrestling: Competing at 100 pounds at the Regional Championships, Poole Martinez went 3-2 on her way to a 4th-place finish. The result made history, as she became the first Lebanon female to qualify for the PIAA State Championships. She now stands at 28-7 on the season.

Kora Wolfe (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Wrestling: Wolfe made history at Saturday’s Regional Championships, becoming the first Annville-Cleona female to medal at that level with a 5th-place finish at 136 pounds. She missed States by just one place, but her 4-2 tournament included three pins and capped a standout season that ended with a 24-10 record.

Laney Zimmerman (New Covenant / Jr.) – Basketball: Beyond the team’s primary scorers, Zimmerman stepped up big in New Covenant’s District 3 semifinal win over Mount Calvary and their championship victory over Linville Hill. Past Winner Update

Oliver Funck (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Wrestling: At the Southeastern Regional Championships, Funck delivered the payoff to a postseason journey that’s been building for years. After an opening-round loss at 145-pounds, the senior ripped off four straight consolation wins — including a pin in his first backside bout — to reach the consolation semifinals. Even after a tight setback there, Funck answered one more time, edging a 5-4 decision in the 5th-place match to clinch both a medal and a State berth. It’s his third straight regional medal, and after missing States by just one place last season, he’s headed to Hershey this time.

Jomar Hidalgo (Lebanon / Jr.) – Swimming: At the District 3 Championships, Hidalgo doubled up with two State-qualifying finishes. The junior earned a bronze medal in the 100-yard backstroke (51.34) and placed 5th in the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.85), punching his ticket to Bucknell in both events.
