Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Kaila Francis (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Basketball: Francis delivered a milestone week while continuing to lead the Lady Falcons on both ends. She posted 15 points and 12 rebounds against Penn Manor, then scored her 1,000th career point the next night versus Governor Mifflin. Against the Mustangs, she finished with 17 points and 17 rebounds while shooting 58% from the floor.
Nina Harrison (Lebanon / Jr.) – Basketball: Harrison stepped up in a big way against Manheim Township, leading the Cedars with 16 points in a hard-fought loss. Known for her defensive consistency all season, the junior is averaging 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 assists per game while continuing to provide steady two-way value.
Rebecca Hilton (Northern Lebanon / Jr.) – Wrestling: Although Northern Lebanon was off this past week, Hilton’s performance at the Upper Dauphin Tournament on Sunday, February 1 is worth spotlighting. The junior earned a silver medal with two pins, a run that pushed her to the 50-win milestone for her career.
McKenna Kantner (New Covenant / Fr.) – Basketball: The freshman helped lead the Flames to the CCAC West Championship while averaging 16 points per game across three contests last week. In the win over Ephrata Mennonite, Kantner scored 19 points while hitting three three-pointers, grabbing 6 rebounds, and dishing 4 assists. New Covenant finished the regular season 19-2.
Savannah Kleinfelter (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Basketball: Kleinfelter provided steady leadership for a young Annville-Cleona squad and closed her home career on a high note. In her final home game, she scored 11 points as the Dutchmen defeated Lancaster Mennonite 58-7. Kleinfelter finished the season averaging 6 points per game.
Addi Salus (Palmyra / Sr.) – Basketball: Salus scored 13 points against Mifflin County as the Lady Cougars avenged an early-season loss. With Salus helping lead the way, Palmyra closed the regular season 14-8 and secured a District 3 playoff berth.
Lily Schoffstall (ELCO / Sr.) – Bowling: Competing at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships, Schoffstall bowled six games at a 128 average and placed 25th overall in the league field. The senior’s effort capped another season of steady production on the lanes.

Male Nominees
Heath DiNunzio (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Bowling: The senior earned a top-10 finish at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Bowling Championships, placing 7th overall. DiNunzio’s performance qualified him for the District 3 and Regional Championships.
Alex Etnoyer (ELCO / Jr.) – Bowling: The junior turned in a strong performance at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships, averaging 192 across six games to place 30th overall. Etnoyer’s steady scoring helped him stand out in a deep league field.
Sam Gladysz (Palmyra / Sr.) – Swimming: Gladysz earned two bronze medals at the Mid-Penn Championships, finishing 3rd in the boys 50 freestyle (21.49) and 3rd in the boys 100 butterfly (51.39). He also contributed in relays with a 4th-place and 6th-place finish, helping the Cougars stack points across multiple events.
Jomar Hidalgo (Lebanon / Jr.) – Swimming: At the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships, the junior captured the title in the boys 200-yard individual medley (1:53.56) and added a runner-up finish in the boys 100-yard backstroke (51.13). Hidalgo’s two-medal performance highlighted another big postseason meet for the Cedars.
Dominick Judkins (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Bowling: Judkins added another postseason accomplishment by placing 9th at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Bowling Championships. His top-10 finish qualified him for the District 3 and Regional Championships alongside teammate Heath DiNunzio.
Hudson Sellers (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Basketball: A veteran leader for the Dutchmen, Sellers helped close the season with a win over Bermudian Springs on Monday night. He scored 14 points in the finale while providing solid rebounding throughout four quarters, finishing the season averaging 11 points per game.
Paxton Thomas (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Bowling: The senior placed 23rd at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships while averaging 195 across six games, highlighted by games of 226, 225, and 225. Thomas’ consistent production helped Cedar Crest earn a spot in the LL Team Championship Tournament.
Talan VanDerPloog (New Covenant / Jr.) – Basketball: The junior paced the Flames through a perfect 3-0 week with wins over Fairfield, Harrisburg Academy, and Lititz Christian. VanDerPloog averaged 16 points per game, highlighted by a 21-point performance against Lititz Christian that included four three-pointers. He also made an impact defensively and helped distribute the ball as New Covenant finished the regular season 17-5.
