On Tuesday, the white-hot Flames put their perfect record on the line at home against Mount Cavalry, and from the opening tip, New Covenant was in control. The Flames raced out to a 12-point advantage in the 1st quarter behind 8 early points from Qynne Demler, the reigning LebCo Athlete of the Week. In the opening frame alone, Demler knocked down a pair of three-pointers and went 2-for-2 at the line. Laney Zimmerman also made her presence felt, scoring 6 points on three field goals.

The defensive pressure intensified in the 2nd quarter, as New Covenant limited Mount Cavalry to just 2 points, allowing the Flames to build a commanding 29-8 lead by halftime.

Northern Lebanon 33, ELCO 29

In a matchup carried live through a collaboration between LebCoSports.com and YG Productions, ELCO made the trip to Northern Lebanon on Monday night for a hard-nosed county showdown. From the opening tip, it was clear this one would be decided by defense, toughness, and execution.

Offense was hard to come by early, as both teams settled in defensively. After one quarter, the score was knotted at 6–6, highlighted by a three-pointer from Ava Beck for ELCO and four early points from Hayley Sheroky for the Vikings.

The grind continued in the 2nd quarter, with Northern Lebanon using balanced scoring to inch ahead. Four different Vikings found the basket in the period, allowing the hosts to carry a slim 13–11 lead into halftime. ELCO stayed within striking distance behind a three from Riley Bennethum and a strong finish in the paint from Adryana Daniels.

Northern Lebanon maintained control in the 3rd quarter, stretching the margin slightly as Saoirse Phillips chipped in four points to push the lead to 24–21 entering the final frame.

In the 4th quarter, the Vikings looked ready to create separation as Kasey Weimer sparked the offense with a three-pointer, a field goal, and a pair of free throws. ELCO refused to fold, however, as Kenzie Eckhart went a perfect 4-for-4 at the line and Daniels added four points to pull the Raiders within two late. Still, Northern Lebanon answered at the stripe in the closing moments to fend off the rally.

Weimer led all scorers with 12 points for Northern Lebanon, while Eckhart paced ELCO with nine.

Northern Lebanon (9-2) will be back on the road Friday night when it travels to Lampeter-Strasburg. ELCO (7-5) will also be in action Friday, hosting Lancaster Catholic.

The next LebCo Live Broadcast is set for Thursday evening, featuring a boys basketball rivalry showdown between Hershey and Palmyra.

Palmyra 56, Red Land 30

The Cougars returned home Monday night to host Red Land in a game that also marked the long-awaited return of Addi Salus, who had missed most of the last month with an injury. Any questions about rust or rhythm were quickly put to rest, as Palmyra’s high-energy offense exploded out of the gate and built a commanding 36–10 lead by halftime.

The early surge was sparked by Elyse Ancharski, who caught fire in the opening quarter, knocking down three three-pointers on her way to 13 points. In the 2nd quarter, Mya Doster took over, scoring six points of her own, including a triple, while Salus made her presence felt with seven points as the Cougars continued to widen the gap.

The second half was played much more evenly, but with the outcome already decided, Palmyra was able to rely on a deep rotation and cruise to the victory.

Ancharski finished as Palmyra’s leading scorer with 16 points. Salus added 11 points in her return, going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Palmyra (6-5) will be back on the road Thursday night when they travel to face rival Hershey.
