Friday, January 2

Salem Christian 30, Our Lady of the Cross 27

Our Lady of the Cross opened the New Year by hosting Salem Christian on Friday evening. The Lions trailed by three after the 1st quarter despite four points from Caroline Garchinsky, but began to find their rhythm before halftime.

Behind seven points from MacKenzie Waters, OLC took a 15–13 lead into the break. The Lions added to that advantage in the 3rd quarter, with Carolina Frey scoring four points as the home team maintained control heading into the final frame.

However, Salem mounted a late push, scoring 13 points in the 4th quarter to pull away and secure the victory.

Waters finished with 11 points to lead OLC.

Our Lady of the Cross (2-5) will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they host Alliance Christian.

Tuesday, December 30

Annville-Cleona 39, Littlestown 30

After defeating Tulpehocken on Monday, the Dutchmen returned to the floor to face Littlestown in the championship game of the Schuylkill Valley Holiday Tournament. The game opened at a slow offensive pace, with Annville accounting for 6 of the 10 total points scored in the 1st quarter.

The scoring picked up in the 2nd quarter as the Dutchmen extended their advantage, carrying a three-point lead into halftime. Valeria Russo provided a lift during the stretch, scoring 5 points in the quarter to help steady the offense.

Annville created separation in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Bolts 13-8 behind a balanced effort. Cait Shay led the way in the frame with 4 points as the Dutchmen pushed the margin heading into the final period. While the 4th quarter was tightly contested, Annville maintained control down the stretch to secure the tournament championship.

Seven Dutchmen found the scoresheet, led by Shay with 10 points. Russo finished with 8, while Georgia Sellers and Addy Sanchez each added 6.

With the championship victory, Annville-Cleona improves to 5-5 and has now won two straight. The Dutchmen will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Columbia on Monday.

Northern Lebanon 25, Palmyra 19

After Palmyra defeated Lebanon and Northern Lebanon knocked off Bishop McDevitt, the two Lebanon County teams earned the right to meet in the Lebanon Holiday Tournament Championship, setting up a defensive battle with a trophy on the line.

Palmyra set the tone early, smothering Northern Lebanon defensively in the 1st quarter to build an 8-0 lead. Mya Dosterand Kaylee Seltzer each scored 4 points in the opening frame for the Cougars.

Northern Lebanon finally broke through in the 2nd quarter, chipping away at the deficit to cut Palmyra’s lead in half. At halftime, Palmyra still held a 12-8 advantage.

The 3rd quarter remained tight, with Northern Lebanon outscoring Palmyra 7-5. Kasey Weimer provided a spark for the Vikings with 4 points in the frame as the gap narrowed heading into the final quarter.

In the 4th quarter, Northern Lebanon clamped down defensively and flipped the game. The Vikings took their first lead with 5:08 remaining, fueled by Weimer’s 5 points and three clutch free throws from Hayley Sheroky down the stretch to secure the comeback victory.

Weimer led all scorers with 11 points, while Palmyra was paced by Seltzer, who finished with 6.

With the win, Northern Lebanon improves to 8-2 and will host ELCO on Monday night in a game that will be livestreamed by LebCoSports.com and YG Productions.
Palmyra (5-5) will also return to action on Monday when they host Red Land.

Monday, December 29

Northern Lebanon 42, Bishop McDevitt 35

On Monday, the Lady Vikings faced Bishop McDevitt in the opening round of the Lebanon Holiday Tournament, a rematch of the Northern Lebanon Tip-Off Championship Game played on December 6 in Fredericksburg—a contest Northern Lebanon won 37-28.

This meeting opened with a tightly played 1st quarter, as Northern Lebanon edged ahead 11-8. The game broke open in the 2nd quarter, however, thanks largely to Hayley Sheroky, who caught fire from beyond the arc. Sheroky splashed five three-pointers in the quarter—after already hitting one earlier—giving her six triples before halftime. That surge allowed the Lady Vikings to take a commanding 29-14 lead into the break.

The pace slowed in the 2nd half, but Sheroky continued to deliver, scoring six more points in the 3rd quarter to keep Northern Lebanon firmly in control. From there, the Vikings were able to manage the game in the 4th quarter as McDevitt attempted to rally.

Sheroky finished with a game-high 26 points to lead Northern Lebanon to the victory. Despite her standout performance, the effort was a balanced one, as every Viking starter contributed to the scoring.

Northern Lebanon (7-2) will return to action on Tuesday when they face Palmyra in an all-LebCo showdown for the Lebanon Holiday Tournament Championship.

Pine Grove 45, ELCO 44

On Monday, ELCO traveled back north to face host Pine Grove in the championship game of the Pine Grove Holiday Tournament. The Lady Raiders had earned their spot with a dominant win over Fleetwood on Friday, but knew they would be tested by a strong Cardinals squad.

The opening quarter was tightly contested, with Pine Grove holding a slim 11–9 edge. A three-pointer from Riley Bennethum helped ELCO stay within striking distance early.

ELCO took control in the 2nd quarter, turning defense into offense and carrying a 24–20 lead into halftime. Kenzie Eckhart paced the Raiders, scoring 8 points in the half while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Pine Grove responded in the 3rd quarter, regaining momentum and building a three-point advantage heading into the final frame despite balanced scoring from ELCO.

In the 4th quarter, the Raiders made their push. Ava Beck knocked down her second three of the half, while Adryana Daniels added four key points to help ELCO cut into the deficit. However, the Cardinals were able to hold on down the stretch to secure the narrow victory.

Eckhart finished as ELCO’s leading scorer with 12 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 performance at the line. Daniels also reached double figures with 10 points.

ELCO (7-3) will return to Schuylkill County on Friday night when they travel to face Pottsville at historic Martz Hall.

Annville-Cleona 38, Tulpehocken 33

On Monday, the Dutchmen returned to action to face Tulpehocken in the opening round of the Schuylkill Valley Holiday Tournament, looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

Annville came out strong in the 1st quarter, with Georgia Sellers and Addy Sanchez combining for all nine of the team’s points. In the 2nd quarter, Sellers added four more as the Dutchmen began to spread the scoring around, helping Annville take a slim 19-18 lead into halftime.

The momentum shifted in the 3rd quarter, as Tulpehocken erased the deficit to tie the game at 26-26, despite five points from Savannah Kleinfelter.

Coach Sanchez’s group responded in the 4th quarter, regrouping defensively and pulling away late. Sellers scored seven points in the final frame, while Kleinfelter added three more down the stretch to help secure the five-point victory.

Sellers finished with a game-high 16 points, while Kleinfelter also reached double figures with 10.

Annville-Cleona (4-5) will be back in action on Tuesday when they face Littlestown in the tournament championship game.
