LebCo Athlete of the Week Voting: January 5 – 11

 

 

Presented in coordination with Froggy Valley 100.1/WiLBuR 99.7 & Lebanon Federal Credit Union.

 


 

Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action.  While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.

Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.

While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.

While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.

Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.

Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor. 

The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees

Lorelai Boehler (ELCO / So.) – Wrestling: The sophomore went 3-0 at 100 pounds last week, helping the Raiders earn team wins over Lancaster Catholic and Octorara. Despite a team loss to Cedar Crest, Boehler pinned her opponent, continuing a strong early-season showing.

Tayana Camuy (Lebanon / Jr.) – Basketball: Camuy has continued to grow into a key leader for the Cedars, contributing on both ends of the floor. Tasked with defending the opposing team’s biggest players, the junior also provided offense, scoring 9 points in each of Lebanon’s wins over Hempfield and Manheim Township.

Mya Doster (Palmyra / Sr.) – Basketball: Doster helped lead the Cougars to a 3-0 week with wins over Red Land, Hershey, and Elizabethtown. The senior averaged nearly 12 points per game, highlighted by a 15-point performance against E-Town that included a three-pointer and six made free throws, five of which came in the second quarter.

Savannah Kleinfelter (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior continued to lead the Dutchmen with steady play and leadership, helping Annville-Cleona to a 2-1 week that included a decisive win over Lancaster Mennonite. Kleinfelter’s impact consistently goes beyond the box score.

McKenna Kantner (New Covenant / Fr.) – Basketball:m The freshman had another productive week, scoring 10 points in a win over Mount Calvary and 21 points against York Country Day, including three three-pointers. Kantner also added 17 points in a narrow loss to Dayspring Christian, New Covenant’s first defeat of the season.

Elli Malinoski (Cedar Crest / So.) – Basketball: The sophomore helped the Lady Falcons to a 2-0 week with key Section 1 wins over Manheim Township and Penn Manor. After scoring 6 points against the Blue Streaks, Malinoski exploded for 23 points against the Comets, knocking down five three-pointers.

Hayley Sheroky (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior played a major role in Northern Lebanon’s wins over ELCO and Lampeter-Strasburg. Sheroky scored 8 points against the Raiders, then poured in a team-high 16 points in Friday’s 38-37 win over the Pioneers, going 8-for-10 in the fourth quarter. She is now averaging 11.3 points per game as the Vikings stand at 10-2.



Male Nominees

Brinley Donmoyer (ELCO / Jr.) – Wrestling: The junior went a perfect 6-0 last week, helping lead the Raiders to a 5-1 team record. All of Donmoyer’s victories came by pin, including five at the Red Land Tournament where he defeated opponents from Cumberland Valley, Red Land, Waynesboro, Southwestern, and Central York. He now stands at 21-5 on the season.

Derek Franco (Lebanon / So.) – Basketball: Franco delivered an outstanding four-game week, averaging 18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game. His play was instrumental in signature wins over Garden Spot and Ephrata, as the sophomore consistently created offense in key moments while impacting the game defensively with rebounding and anticipation.

Sam Gladysz (Palmyra / Sr.) – Swimming: The senior delivered a dominant week in the pool, playing a key role in multiple Cougar victories. In a win over Mechanicsburg, Gladysz took first place in both the 200-yard Freestyle and the 100-yard Butterfly, while also swimming on two winning relay teams. Earlier in the week, he was part of four wins against Bishop McDevitt, finishing first in the 50-yard and 100-yard Freestyle events and contributing to two more relay victories.

Dominick Judkins (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Bowling: The senior put together an excellent week on the lanes, averaging 212 with series scores of 631 and 645. Judkins currently ranks 9th in District 3 in scoring average, continuing to establish himself among the area’s top bowlers.

Jemar Pauleus (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Basketball: The junior led the Falcons to a perfect 3-0 week with wins over Manheim Township, Penn Manor, and Wilson. Pauleus averaged over 17 points per game, scoring 16 points twice before pouring in 20 against the Blue Streaks.

Hudson Sellers (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior was a force inside for the Dutchmen, recording two double-doubles during a three-game week. Sellers totaled 31 points and 28 rebounds, highlighted by a 10-point, 10-rebound effort against Columbia and a 15-point, 14-rebound performance versus Tulpehocken.

Grayden Summers (New Covenant / Jr.) – Basketball: The junior sparked a comeback victory over Mount Calvary, scoring 12 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter while knocking down three three-pointers in the final frame. Summers’ late-game shooting powered the Flames to the come-from-behind win.
