Palmyra delivered one of its most impressive performances of the young season on Saturday, stunning the home team Moon Area and earning a runner-Up finish at the Moon Duals in a tournament loaded with high-level competition. The event featured 12 teams, led by a strong contingent of programs from Western Pennsylvania.
The Cougars entered the day fresh off a runner-up showing at the Solanco Mule Classic, while Moon — one of the WPIAL’s top early-season AAA programs — was coming off a championship performance at the Chartiers-Houston Invitational. The highly anticipated showdown lived up to the billing, unfolding as a dramatic, back-and-forth battle that drew the full attention of the crowd and the other teams in attendance. The match swung in Palmyra’s favor when Grayson Cisney delivered a statement moment, sealing the team victory with a stunning first-period pin in just 41 seconds.

Palmyra’s only loss of the day came in the finals against Derry Area, a perennial power currently ranked #7 in AA by PA Power Rankings and #4 by Keystone Caliber Wrestling. Despite a strong effort, the Cougars were unable to overcome Derry’s depth, closing the tournament with a second-place finish.
Several Cougars turned in standout individual performances throughout the day. Elijah Foltz, competing at 107 pounds, posted a 5-1 record, highlighted by a major decision over #2 PA-ranked AAA wrestler Bryce Thomas of Moon and a technical fall against #9 PA-ranked AA wrestler Angelo Boni of Central Valley. At 139 pounds, Tyler Detwiler was flawless at 6-0, earning quality wins over #11 PA-ranked AA Mason Wright of Beth-Center and #11 PA-ranked AAA Cael Yanek of Moon. Cisney also capped a perfect 6-0 day at 121 pounds, collecting four pins, including the decisive fall that capped the upset of Moon.
Palmyra will look to carry that momentum into league action on Thursday, when the Cougars travel to Carlisle for a Keystone Division showdown with the Thundering Herd.
