Saturday, December 20

Wilson 39, Cedar Crest 33

On Saturday, the Lady Falcons traveled to face Wilson, one of the teams expected to contend for this year’s District 3 Championship. From the opening tip, the Bulldogs showed why, building a 12-6 lead by the end of the 1st quarter.

Cedar Crest responded with an inspired effort, refusing to back down against the powerful Wilson lineup. The Falcons locked in defensively in the 2nd quarter, limiting Wilson to just 2 points. On the offensive end, Elli Malinoski knocked down a three-pointer as part of her 7-point first half, helping Crest cut the deficit to just one at halftime.

The two teams traded punches in the 3rd quarter, playing to a 10-10 draw. Malinoski continued to carry the scoring load with 6 points in the frame, while Kaila Francis recorded her first field goal of the game. Entering the 4th quarter, Wilson clung to a narrow 24-23 advantage.

Cedar Crest continued to battle to the final buzzer, getting 6 points from Francis and 4 more from Malinoski in the final frame. However, Wilson’s depth and experience showed late, allowing the Bulldogs to pull away and improve to 8-1 on the season.

Malinoski led the inspired effort for Cedar Crest with 17 points, including two three-pointers, while Francis finished with 8 points.

Cedar Crest (5-4) will now have time to regroup over the holiday break before returning to action at the Lower Dauphin Holiday Tournament beginning December 29th.

Hamburg 39, Annville-Cleona 25

The Dutchmen traveled north to Hamburg on Saturday afternoon and struggled to find their rhythm early. Annville-Cleona fell behind 9-4 after the 1st quarter and was unable to fully recover.

In the 2nd quarter, the Dutchmen began to settle in and compete with the Hawks, led by Savannah Kleinfelter, who paced Annville’s offense with 5 points in the first half. Despite the improved play, Hamburg carried an 18-11 advantage into the break.

Annville continued to battle in the 3rd quarter, but Hamburg gradually pulled away to secure the victory.

Kleinfelter led the Dutchmen with 7 points.

Annville-Cleona (3-4) will now have time to regroup before returning to action on December 29th, when they take part in the Schuylkill Valley Holiday Tournament.

Friday, December 19

New Covenant 56, Harrisburg Christian 21

The Flames were looking to improve to 6-0 on Friday night when they hosted Harrisburg Christian. The game began slowly for New Covenant, as they trailed 8-6 at the end of the 1st quarter.

That changed in the 2nd quarter, when the Flames’ offense ignited behind Qynne Demler, who took over by scoring 14 points in the frame. The surge helped New Covenant seize control and build a 31-17 lead by halftime.

New Covenant continued to dominate on both ends of the floor in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Harrisburg Christian 18-4. McKenna Kantner provided a spark by knocking down two three-pointers on her way to 8 points in the quarter, while Demler stayed hot with 9 more points.

With a comfortable lead in hand, the Flames slowed the pace in the 4th quarter and cruised to the victory.

Demler finished with a game-high 31 points, including five three-pointers. Kantner added 20 points of her own, knocking down four shots from beyond the arc.

New Covenant (6-0) will be back in action on Monday night when they host Millersburg.

Lancaster Catholic 53, Northern Lebanon 33

On Friday night, the Lady Vikings faced a tough road test against perennial powerhouse Lancaster Catholic. Early on, the Crusaders showed why they are always a District 3 contender, jumping out to an early lead behind Neveah Kennedy, who scored 8 points in the 1st quarter as her teammates limited Northern Lebanon’s scoring opportunities. By halftime, Catholic had built a 26-8 advantage.

Despite the early struggles, Northern Lebanon did not fold. The Lady Vikings responded with a strong 3rd quarter, scoring 16 points and finding offensive rhythm behind Hayley Sheroky, who poured in 9 points in the frame. While Northern Lebanon continued to compete through the final buzzer, the early deficit proved too much to overcome against the Crusaders’ balanced effort.

Sheroky finished as Northern Lebanon’s leading scorer with 14 points. Kennedy led all scorers with 18 points for Lancaster Catholic.

Northern Lebanon (6-2) will look to regroup following the Christmas break and will return to action on December 29th in the Lebanon Holiday Tournament.

Manheim Central 29, ELCO 18

On Friday night, the Lady Raiders hosted Manheim Central, a Barons squad that entered the night off to a strong 4-1 start, with their only loss coming against Cocalico. Central showed early why they are emerging as one of the top teams in the Lancaster-Lebanon League, building a 16-4 lead by halftime. ELCO’s lone first-half highlight came from Ava Beck, who knocked down a three-pointer.

Manheim Central continued to add to its advantage in the 3rd quarter, though ELCO showed signs of life offensively with Abby Ruth connecting from beyond the arc. In the 4th quarter, the Lady Raiders finished strong, outscoring the Barons, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Kenzie Eckhart scored all four of her points in the final quarter, going to the free-throw line as ELCO looked to mount a late push.

Eckhart finished as ELCO’s leading scorer with five points.

ELCO (6-2) will look to carry their late momentum forward when they return to action the day after Christmas with a road trip to Fleetwood.

Cedar Crest 45, Lebanon 38

In the first of two meetings this season, cross-town rivals Cedar Crest and Lebanon squared off Thursday night at Cedar Crest.

Lebanon came out strong in the 1st quarter, outpacing the Falcons 11–7 behind a hot start from Olive Brandt, who scored 9 of the Cedars’ points. Cedar Crest answered in the 2nd quarter, erasing the deficit to take an 18–16 lead into halftime. Kaila Francis scored 8 points in the half, while Ryan Stopper added 5.

The Falcons continued to build separation in the 3rd quarter as Ali Groff began to heat up, knocking down a three-pointer on her way to 5 points in the frame. Entering the 4th quarter, Cedar Crest held a 31–22 advantage.

Lebanon made a push in the final quarter, with Brandt and Nina Harrison each scoring 7 points to keep the Cedars within striking distance. However, Francis and Groff responded with 6 points apiece down the stretch to hold Lebanon at bay.

Francis delivered a dominant performance, finishing with 18 points and 19 rebounds. Groff joined her in double figures with 13 points. Lebanon was led by Brandt, who scored 20 points, and Harrison, who added 11. Both players knocked down two three-pointers.

Cedar Crest (5-3) will face a tough test Saturday when they travel to take on District 3 power Wilson. Lebanon (2-5) will return to action Monday night when they host Elizabethtown.

On the boys’ side of the rivalry, Cedar Crest will host Lebanon on Friday night.

Our Lady of the Cross 25, Lancaster Mennonite 24

The Lions hosted Lancaster Mennonite on Thursday evening in a rematch of a December 4th meeting that came down to the wire, and this one followed a very similar script.

The teams played to a 4–4 tie in the 1st quarter before Mennonite broke away in the 2nd, building a 16–7 halftime advantage. Our Lady of the Cross stayed composed and responded with a strong defensive effort in the 3rd quarter, shutting out the Blazers to cut the deficit to just three points.

Entering the 4th quarter trailing 18–15, the Lions leaned on MacKenzie Waters, who delivered in the biggest moments. Waters knocked down two three-pointers in the final frame, including the go-ahead triple with 50 seconds remaining to put OLC in front for good. She scored 8 of her 13 points in the final quarter to lead the comeback.

The overall effort was bolstered by Anna Harrison, who provided stellar rebounding and physical play throughout the night.

Our Lady of the Cross (2-4) will now have time off until January 6th, when they host Alliance Christian.

Pequea Valley 38, Annville-Cleona 33

On Thursday night, Annville-Cleona hosted Pequea Valley in a game that turned into a tale of two halves. Behind a strong defensive effort, the Dutchmen limited Pequea to just 8 points in the 1st half while building a 12-point halftime lead. Savannah Kleinfelter and Addy Sanchez each scored 6 points in the opening half to fuel the early advantage.

The momentum shifted in the 2nd half, as Pequea Valley found its offensive rhythm in the 3rd quarter and continued to chip away at the deficit. In the 4th quarter, the Braves completed the comeback, surging past the Dutchmen in the final minutes to secure the victory.

Kleinfelter led Annville-Cleona in scoring with 15 points.

Annville-Cleona (3-4) will look to bounce back and return to .500 when they travel to Hamburg on Friday night.

Wednesday, December 17

Northern Lebanon 39, Blue Mountain 32

On Wednesday night, the Lady Vikings hosted Blue Mountain in a non-league matchup. From the opening tip, Northern Lebanon set the tone with a balanced offensive effort, building a 14-6 lead in the 1st quarter. Hayley Sheroky led the way early, knocking down a three-pointer and going 2-for-2 from the free-throw line to score 5 points in the opening frame.

Blue Mountain trimmed the deficit slightly in the 2nd quarter, but Northern Lebanon answered behind strong bench play from Selah Martino, who scored 4 points to help the Vikings maintain control. At halftime, Northern Lebanon held a 23-16 advantage.

The Lady Vikings continued to defend at a high level in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Blue Mountain 8-6 as Kasey Weimerand Zeah Zerman each connected from beyond the arc. In the 4th quarter, Northern Lebanon sealed the victory with steady free-throw shooting from Sheroky and Weimer, fending off a late comeback attempt.

Sheroky finished with a team-high 9 points, while Weimer added 7. Saoirse Phillips and Martino each scored 6 points, and Ryleigh Hopkins contributed 5. As a team, Northern Lebanon was efficient at the line, converting 14 of 15 free throws.

Northern Lebanon (6-1) will face a major test on Friday night when they travel to Lancaster Catholic.

Tuesday, December 16

New Covenant 63, Our Lady of the Cross 9

On Tuesday evening, New Covenant hosted Our Lady of the Cross in a matchup featuring Lebanon County’s two private schools. From the opening tip, the Flames showed why they are considered a contender for this year’s District 3 championship.

New Covenant jumped out to a dominant start behind strong shooting from McKenna Kantner, who scored 9 points in the 1st quarter, including a three-pointer and a perfect 4-for-4 effort from the free-throw line. That surge fueled a 29-0 lead by the end of the opening frame.

Our Lady of the Cross settled in during the 2nd quarter, scoring 9 points while holding New Covenant to 10. Mackenzie Waters led the Lions in the quarter with 7 points, but the Flames still carried a commanding 39-9 advantage into halftime.

The second half belonged to New Covenant’s defense, as the Flames shut out OLC over the final two quarters while continuing to control the game on both ends of the floor.

Kantner finished with 17 points to lead New Covenant. Qynne Demler added 15 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Laura Bello also reached double figures with 10 points.

New Covenant improves to 5-0 and will host Harrisburg Christian on Friday. Our Lady of the Cross drops to 1-4 and will host Lancaster Mennonite on Thursday.

ELCO 42, Annville-Cleona 22

ELCO made the trip to The Barn on Tuesday night to face Annville-Cleona in a Lebanon County showdown. With both teams playing for the second straight night, depth proved to be a factor, favoring the more veteran Lady Raiders.

ELCO struck first, building a 9–6 lead in the 1st quarter behind 7 points from Kenzie Eckhart. In the 2nd quarter, the Raiders stretched the advantage as their perimeter shooting came alive, with three-pointers from Ava Beck and Ava Seifert helping ELCO take a 23–11 lead into halftime.

The Raiders continued to add to the margin in the 3rd quarter, highlighted by 6 points from Adryana Daniels, pushing the lead to 34–15 entering the final frame.

Annville-Cleona continued to battle, and Savannah Kleinfelter scored 3 points late to finish with a team-high 10 points. However, ELCO maintained control throughout the 4th quarter to secure the victory.

Eckhart led all scorers with 16 points, while Seifert also reached double figures with 10 points.

ELCO (6-1) will return to action on Friday night when they host Manheim Central. Annville-Cleona (3-3) will look to bounce back Thursday when they host Pequea Valley.

Monday, December 15

Northern Lebanon 44, Donegal 11

The Lady Vikings hosted Donegal on Monday night, and from the opening tip it was clear that Northern Lebanon was in control. The Vikings executed on both ends of the floor to build a 22–7 halftime lead.

Northern Lebanon tightened the clamps even more in the 3rd quarter, holding Donegal scoreless while pouring in 16 points of their own. With a commanding 31-point advantage entering the final frame, the Vikings were able to coast the rest of the way to the victory.

Kasey Weimer led Northern Lebanon with 14 points, while Hayley Sheroky joined her in double figures with 11.

Northern Lebanon (5-1) will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Blue Mountain.

Annville-Cleona 42, Lancaster County Christian 12

On Monday, the Dutchmen hit the road to face Lancaster County Christian, and the trip did little to slow Annville-Cleona. The Dutchmen jumped out to a 10-0 lead by the end of the 1st quarter and extended that advantage to 22-4 by halftime behind a strong defensive effort.

Annville continued to limit LanCo Christian’s scoring opportunities in the 2nd half, pulling away for their third straight victory.

Addy Sanchez led the Dutchmen with 14 points, while newly named All-State Field Hockey player Savannah Kleinfelter added 11 points to the winning effort. Georgia Sellers also reached double figures with 10 points.

Annville-Cleona (3-2) will return home on Tuesday evening when they host ELCO.
