Governor Mifflin 64, Lebanon 31

A night after facing Cedar Crest, the Cedars were back in action on Saturday, traveling to Governor Mifflin for a non-league matchup. The Mustangs showcased their offensive depth early, building a lead despite three early points from Reese Williams and Daryan Rodriguez for Lebanon.

In the 2nd quarter, Manny Martinez provided a spark, scoring 12 points in the frame. However, Mifflin continued to score at a pace the Cedars could not match, taking a 43-21 lead into halftime.

Lebanon continued to battle through the second half, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

Martinez finished with a team-high 17 points (2 3PT, 3-for-4 FT). Mifflin’s scoring was a true collective effort, with ten different players finding the scorebook, including six who finished with 5+ points.

Moyer led Northern Lebanon with 17 points, adding a strong performance at the free-throw line where he went 7-for-8. As a team, the Vikings were efficient at the stripe, converting 13 of 14 attempts.

Cedar Crest 58, Lebanon 33

Coming into the matchup at Cedar Crest, there was hope that this rivalry game would be more competitive than in recent years. While the Falcons are adjusting to a young roster after winning two straight Lancaster-Lebanon League titles, Lebanon has shown early signs of progress during its rebuild.

Early on, Cedar Crest’s new-look line-up showed its growing confidence. Sophomore Jemar Pauleus and senior Owen Outmanhelped the Falcons build a 9-3 lead after one quarter. The game broke open in the 2nd quarter, as sophomore Steven Reyes knocked down three three-pointers, while Cam Tirado and Antonio Tirado each added a triple of their own. On the defensive end, Cedar Crest clamped down, holding Lebanon to just three points in the quarter to take a commanding 34-6 lead into halftime.

Lebanon responded with more energy in the 2nd half, but Cedar Crest was able to keep the Cedars at arm’s length through the final buzzer. Reyes led the Falcons with 14 points, including four three-pointers, as 11 different Cedar Crest players found the scoring column in a balanced team effort.

For Lebanon, Manny Martinez led the way with 11 points, connecting on two three-pointers and going a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Derek Franco added 17 points, all of which came in the 2nd half.

Northern Lebanon wasted little time doing just that, racing out to a big 1st-quarter advantage behind Carter Moyer, who poured in 12 points on four three-pointers as the Vikings built a 16-point lead.

Columbia attempted to slow the momentum in the 2nd quarter by sending Northern Lebanon to the free-throw line, but Moyer continued to produce, going 5-for-6 at the charity stripe. Kael Erdman knocked down his second three of the half, while Andrew Via added five points as the Vikings carried a 37-24 lead into halftime.

The game was put away in the 3rd quarter as Northern Lebanon outscored Columbia 20-6. Entering the 4th quarter trailing 44-41, New Covenant turned up the defensive pressure and leaned on senior leadership. Alex Shaffer also played a key role in the comeback, drilling a three-pointer as part of a 4-point night.

Pequea Valley 47, Annville-Cleona 29

The Dutchmen hit the road on Thursday evening to face Pequea Valley in a Section 4 matchup. The game was played tight early, with Annville-Cleona staying within striking distance through the opening quarter. Hudson Sellers scored 4 points and Max Ortwein knocked down a three-pointer, but Pequea Valley held a 14-12 edge after one.

Annville continued to battle in the 2nd quarter, getting three-pointers from John Ditzler and Chris Bailey, but the Braves were able to extend their lead to 29-23 by halftime.

In the 2nd half, defensive intensity ramped up on both ends of the floor, making scoring difficult for the Dutchmen. Pequea Valley used that defensive pressure to gradually pull away over the final two quarters, creating a final margin that did not fully reflect how competitive the game was early on.

Sellers led Annville-Cleona with 8 points, while Ditzler added 6 points on a pair of three-pointers.
