On Wednesday, Section 4 held its final match at Honeybrook, the home course of Pequea Valley. The Braves, who held a one-match lead over Annville-Cleona, had a chance to clinch the Section 4 title on their home turf. However, the Dutchmen have been playing some great golf behind freshman Benjamin Allwein and senior Logan Francis.
When all 18 holes were complete, Pequea Valley used their home course to full advantage, defeating Annville-Cleona by seven strokes. Leading the way for the Braves were Chase Dizel (73, +3), Max Hershey (76, +6), Josh Stoltzfus (78, +8), and Dion Stoltzfus (81, +11).
Despite the overall result, the Dutchmen had several highlights, including an incredible 66 (-4) from Allwein, who finished every match as the top golfer this season, and 75 (+5) from Francis, who placed third on the leaderboard. Annville-Cleona’s other contributors included Aidan Lezon (86, +16), Luke Cisney (88, +18), Will Kerwin (90, +20), and Cian Soliday (98, +28).
The Lebanon Cedars also competed on Tuesday, led by Jonah Dubbs (103, +33), with Trinity Leeper (109, +39) and Leland Thome (124, +54) contributing.
Annville-Cleona and Pequea Valley now turn their attention to the Lancaster Lebanon League Championships next Thursday, where the Dutchmen and Braves will once again battle for a chance to advance to Districts.
