The Palmyra Cougars were last year’s PIAA Runner-up. They returned this postseason, poised and confident to put forth some great performances. They did not disappoint, and it resulted in them being crowned the 2025 Mid Penn Conference Champions.
The effort was led by twins Tyler & Jacob Burgess. The defending State Champ in both hurdles events, Tyler won both the 110m Highs and 300m IMs. Jacob won the Long Jump, an event in which he is the reigning indoor State Champion, and took 5th in the 100m. The brothers also joined with Travis McDannell & Landon Weldon to win the 4x100m.
In the jumps, a silver was won by senior Jonathan Beam in the Triple Jump, giving the Cougars eight critical points.
While there were outstanding performances across the board, Palmyra was especially strong in the relays, where they showed their depth. Besides the 4x100m, the Cougars took bronze in the 4x800m and ran to a 4th place finish in the 4x400m.

The Lancaster Lebanon League Championship Meet, held at Hempfield High School, commenced on Friday evening and concluded on Saturday.
Girls
LebCo’s performances were led by Cedar Crest’s Kaddel Howard & Eliana Schneider, along with ELCO’s Makenna Haas, as the three young ladies all left Landisville with gold medals.
Howard, the two-time 400m Outdoor State Champ, repeated as the LL League Champion and also helped the Falcons to a bronze medal finish in the 4x400m.
Schneider won the High Jump for the second consecutive year, but again showed her versatility by taking 3rd in the 800m and joining Howard on the 4x400m relay.
The senior Haas was a first-time league gold medal winner on Friday evening when she measured 37’3.5” on her longest Triple Jump. She returned on Saturday to take 5th in the Long Jump.
Annville-Cleona’s Kendall Cooper also had an impressive showing, taking 2nd in both the 100m & 200m. She was also a key member of two Dutchmen relay teams that medaled, including taking bronze in the 4x100m.
Though they did not place, Northern Lebanon’s 4x100m made history by running 52.40 to set a new school record, breaking the previous record that had been in place since 1978.
Cedar Crest was the top LebCo team, placing 4th overall. McCaskey won the overall team championship.

Boys
The LebCo medal haul was led by Max Fleischer, the Cedar Crest junior who won gold in the Triple Jump and added a 7th place medal in the Javelin. However, Fleischer was not the only Falcon to have a banner day, as Landen Weaber took bronze in the 100m with a time of 10.81, ranking him as one of the fastest in LL League history. He then used his speed in the 4x100m, as he and his teammates took silver.
Other silver medalists hailing from LebCo included ELCO’s Bryce Hoglund (Pole Vault) & Cedar Crest’s Cameron Tirado (High Jump).
Annville-Cleona benefitted from several solid performances, including the 3rd place finish by David Moran in the 800m. He then anchored their 4x800m that took bronze.
Though Fleischer won the Triple Jump, he was not the only local athlete to place high on the podium. Lebanon’s Eddie Ferrer earned bronze marking his best jump just one-foot short of Fleischer’s.
Finishing 7th overall, Cedar Crest led the LebCo schools in the team standings. McCaskey was the overall champion.
