Girls Wrestling: At Regionals, Four LebCo Wrestlers Earn Medals, Two Moving on to States

This marked the 2nd year that Regionals were held as the final stop before the PIAA Girls Wrestling State Championships. With the sport growing across Pennsylvania, wrestlers from forty-six schools converged upon Penn Manor High School on Saturday to compete for the four spots in each weight class that would advance to Hershey.

Among the competitors were ten young women representing LebCo schools: Cedar Crest, ELCO, Lebanon, and Northern Lebanon.

When all of the wrestling was complete, four LebCo wrestlers had finished in the top six, earning medals. Two of them finished in the top four, securing their spots at next week’s State Championships.

Finishing 3rd at 112 pounds was ELCO’s Kylee Trostle. The finish means that the sophomore will be making a return trip to the Giant Center after finishing 6th in 2024.

Joining Trostle at States will be Northern Lebanon’s Dakota Dengler, a freshman who finished 4th competing at 142 pounds.

Also medaling were Northern Lebanon’s Anna Lanka and Palmyra’s Shayla Carl.

The PIAA Championships begin on Thursday, as Trostle and Dengler will join seven other area wrestlers in battling to reach the podium: ELCO’s Kyle Miller, Klint Miller, & Kane Kline; Palmyra’s Jason Foutz & Aaron Andrew; Northern Lebanon’s Aaron Seidel & Sam Wolford.

Below are brief recaps of each of the performances by each of our LebCo wrestlers at this weekend’s Regional Championships. Orange* indicates State Qualifier. Green indicates medalist.
