Saturday, March 15
Palmyra 9, Wyoming Valley West 1
On Saturday, Palmyra opened their season with a game against Wyoming Valley West. The game took place with both teams attending spring training in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
After nearly five innings of scoreless baseball, the Cougars brought the heat in their final two at-bats. In the 5th, a Nate Osteen double scored Alex Dorta & Julian Meley to give Palmyra the 2-0 lead. Wyoming Valley West got a run back in the Top 6th.
Palmyra made sure in the Bottom 6th that there would be enough room for them to preserve the victory. Following two walks and an error, Adam Strohecker got a free pass to force home a run, making it 3-1. Meley then singled to score two runs, followed by a Dorta walk, a single by Osteen, a sacrifice grounder by Aiden Willard, and a single by Ty Peck. By the end of the inning, Palmyra found themselves with a commanding 9-1 advantage. Clint Bricker then retired WVW in order to end the game.
Jonathon Strohecker pitched the first three innings, collecting five strikeouts without allowing a hit. Logan Kriner pitched the next three innings, giving up a hit and one run, all while striking out seven. Bricker then pitched the final inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced.
Osteen finished the game going 3-4, 3 RBI, 2B, R. Meley was 2-3, 2 RBI, 2 RBI, 3 SB. Willard, Peck, & A. Strohecker each had an RBI.
Palmyra (1-0) will host E-Town on Thursday.
ELCO 2, Tulpehocken 0
Gavin Bicher pitched a complete game shutout as the Raiders picked up their 1st victory of the 2025 season. Over the course of 7 innings, Bicher gave up 3 hits, walked one, & had 2 strikeouts.
The game was scoreless until the 5th, when Braden Gettle singled to left field, allowing Queston Rivera & Austin Smith to score. Gettle was 2-3 on the day.
Bicher went 3-4 at the plate. Zach Martin stole two bases after reaching on an error in the 6th.
ELCO (1-1) will host Middletown on Monday.

Friday, March 14
Northern Lebanon 12, Lebanon 2
In the Top 1st, Lebanon took a 1-0 lead when a Sebastian Cruz bunt led to an error that scored David Furjanic. Cruz later scored when Noah Brandt drove him in to give the Cedars an early 2-0 lead.
The Vikings did not take the challenge lightly and quickly responded in their first turn at the plate. After Andrew Via singled and scored on a wild pitch, Connor Stoltz hit a two-run homer to give Northern Lebanon the lead. From that point on, the Vikings remained in control on their way to the 12-2 victory. In the 5th, Stoltz would again go yard with another two-run shot.
Stoltz finished the game going 3-4 with 5 RBI & 3 runs scored. Brian Bicksler and Via each had 2 hits. Via, Brady Ryan, & Riley Messinger each had doubles.
Bicksler picked up the win, giving up 2 hits & 2 unearned runs over the course of 5.2 IP. He had 7 Ks & issued 7 free passes. Via got the final out, striking out the final batter of the game.
Diego Serrano took the loss for Lebanon (5 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 K).
Northern Lebanon (1-0) will play Hamburg on Tuesday.
Lebanon (0-1) will host Garden Spot on Monday.

Conestoga Valley 5, ELCO 0
After giving up a run to the Buckskins early, ELCO found themselves down only by a run until Conestoga Valley put up 3 runs in the 5th inning to break away for the win. The ELCO batters were limited throughout the game, only tagging CV pitchers for two singles courtesy of John Stauffer & Zach Martin.
Taking the loss was starter Austin Smith, who went 4.1 IP while giving up 3 runs on 5 hits. Smith had 4 Ks.
ELCO (0-1) will travel to Tulpehocken on Saturday.
