PIAA District 3 Boys Cross Country Championships – 2024: LebCo Results

On Saturday, thirty-four runners representing LebCo schools competed at the District 3 Cross Country Championships at Big Spring High School. This contingent included four full teams and runners from each of our six local high schools. Qualification was based on their races at the Lancaster Lebanon Lebanon and Mid Penn Championships. To advance to States, an individual or team has to qualify at the District meet.

Annville-Cleona headlined the day with a team victory in the AA race. The Dutchmen were led by three individuals who finished in the top seven: Oliver Funck (3rd), Landon Hostetter (4th), and David Moran (7th). The win by Annville is their second straight District 3 title after winning the A race in 2023 before going on to win the PIAA State Championship.

Joining the racers from Annville at States will be Northern Lebanon’s Luke Hentz and Thaddeus Raub, who qualified based on their finishes in the AA race.

In the AAA race, Cedar Crest junior Travis Furmanski rumbled to a 6th place finish, qualifying him for States. Joining Furmanski in the AAA race will be Palmyra junior Cornelius Cummings, who qualified with a 30th place finish.

Below are the full results for each LebCo runner that competed, broken up by classification. Underneath are the combined race results, regardless of classification.

AA

Annville-Cleona clinched their 2nd straight District 3 Championship, even after making the leap from A to AA this season. Three individuals Oliver Funck, Landon Hostetter, and David Moran helped to lead the Dutchmen to the victory as the team’s 62 points far outpaced the 121 points that were collected by Conrad Weiser. Despite making the change in classification, they will now defend their 2023 State Championship when they line up next Saturday at Hershey.

Northern Lebanon witnessed great races by Luke Hentz and Thaddeus Raub, as both Vikings qualified for States.
ELCO’s Chad Keller narrowly missed out on State qualification as Raub was the last individual to make the cut.
