Softball: 2024 LebCo All-County Team

As important as it is to honor our top athletes, these lists are never easy to compile. In this case, the number of talented LebCo Softball players made it beyond difficult, as the number of impressive performances resulted in season numbers that were borderline outrageous. It was only with the help of the LebCoSports.com community and the coaches that we were able to put together the list of honorees, which you can see below.

None of the decisions were easy, which is evident when you compare the stats and accolades put up by each of the nominees. However, Annville-Cleona’s Danika Setlock rose above the fray in an extremely talented field to become a unanimous choice as the Offensive Player of the Year. This result led to Setlock being named LebCoSports.com’s 2024 Softball MVP.

Northern Lebanon’s Lynsie Mauser came out on top of the voting for Pitcher of the Year in a field that included talents like ELCO’s Gabby Smith and Annville-Cleona’s senior Meda Pulaski.

Likewise, a number of young stars on established teams, along with teams who are rebuilding, battled it out for Rookie of the Year honors. It was Annville’s Temperance Brubaker who was named the top first-year player.

Thank you to everyone who took time to review the nominees and then vote. For more information on the nominees, you can go back to the nominations by clicking here.

Keep in mind, with the level of talent on all of the LebCo Softball rosters, even being nominated was an accomplishment. Congrats to all of the award winners.

First Team All-County

LebCo Offensive Player of the Year / LebCo MVP Softball Player

Danika Setlock – Annville-Cleona

Setlock finished 2023 as the 2nd Team All-County selection after she hit .400 with 25 RBI and 27 runs scored. She returned during her junior year and improved on all of those numbers, helping to lead the Dutchmen to a 16-5 record, a win in the Lancaster Lebanon League Playoffs, and an appearance in the District 3 Playoffs.

Her 2024 metrics were eye-popping, as Setlock posted a .500 batting average that was complete with a .584 OBP. Of her 31 hits, she had 11 doubles, 2 triples, and 3 home runs that resulted in a .887 slugging %. Her timely hitting with teammates on base resulted in 36 RBI. Setlock crossed home herself a total of 32 times during the season. To throw in another impressive statistic, it is worth considering that Setlock only struck out two times in her 77 plate appearances.

Always a tough out, Setlock made opposing teams pay on her way to registering nine multi-hit games. At one point of the season, Setlock had put together a hit streak that reached sixteen games.

In addition to her offensive numbers, Setlock gave Annville strong defensive consistency at third base. In 52 chances to make plays at the hot corner, Setlock posted a .865 fielding percentage.

Setlock is committed to playing Field Hockey at Slippery Rock once she graduates in June 2025, but her constant effort to improve, combined with her hyper-competitive nature, should result in a senior Softball season that will be worth watching as she rounds out her high school career.

LebCo Pitcher of the Year

Lynsie Mauser – Northern Lebanon

In 2023, as a sophomore, Mauser was a winner of seven games while posting a 2.54 ERA. This earned her 2nd Team All-County honors as a pitcher.

During her junior year in 2024, Mauser improved upon those numbers and became the go-to option on a Viking team with a talented pitching staff. She ended the season with a 9-3 record, complete with a 1.53 ERA. She struck out 148 opposing batters and walked only 14. During the year, she surpassed the 300 career strikeout milestone.

Mauser was the starter in each of Northern Lebanon’s postseason games and also the May 6th win over Annville that decided the Section 4 Championship. The Vikings were stopped one win short of States, losing to Big Spring in a game where Mauser was knocked from the game in the 5th inning after taking a line drive to the head.

In 2025, Mauser will return and will be ready to finish what she started.

Rookie of the Year

Temperence Brubaker – Annville-Cleona

It is not usually easy for a fresh face to break into the starting lineup of a team full of talented veterans. However, Brubaker overcame that challenge and immediately made an impact for the Dutchmen.

In the first game of the season, Brubaker reached base three times and scored each time while also driving home a run. In the season’s third game, she went 4-4, including a triple and a home run. By the end of the year, Brubaker had collected 16 hits on her way to a .302 batting average with a .403 OBP. She notched an impressive 26 RBI, second-most on the Annville roster. She also scored 21 times as the Dutchmen finished the season going 17-6.

Brubaker, usually a position player, showcased her versatility when she was given two opportunities to pitch. She seized the chance and struck out eight of the eleven batters she faced, proving her potential goes beyond her primary role.

If 2024 was any indication, Brubaker’s future is, beyond a doubt, a bright one.
