Baseball: LebCo Youth Legion Update – July 10-12

The first round of the LebCo Youth Legion Playoffs concluded with Myerstown and Jonestown advancing to the Finals. Myerstown then proceeded to win two straight games to take the best of three series that concluded on Thursday night with a 7-4 victory.

Led by 2nd year head coach Joe Hayes, this was Myerstown’s 18th LebCo Youth Legion Championship and their third in the past four years.Myerstown was also the regular season champion after finishing with a record of 10-2.

The LebCo Champion will now advance to the Eastern Regional Championship Tournament, which will begin on Friday, July 19th, in Boyertown.

Has a LebCo team ever won the State Championship? Since 1969, Jonestown has won twice and Myerstown has brought home the trophy once. Prior to 1969, when the program went officially by Connie Mack Baseball, Newmanstown staked their claim to the State title in 1950.
