Friday, May 3
Northern Lebanon 2, Pequea Valley 1
With a chance to clinch the Section 4 Championship, Northern Lebanon hosted Pequea Valley, the team that handed the Vikings one of their two losses this season. Sophomore Adrian Gonzalez got the call from Coach Thome to take the mound. Following a leadoff walk and stolen base by Andrew Via, Gonzalez’s cousin, it was Gonzalez with an RBI single to get the scoring started. Gonzalez would then score on a wild pitch to give his team a 2-0 lead by the time he took the mound in the 2nd. From there, the game would turn into a pitcher’s duel, with Pequea getting their only runner across the plate in the 3rd inning. Gonzalez pitched all seven innings, finishing the game with 11 Ks and scattered seven hits on his way to only giving up only one run.
With the win, the Vikings won the Section 4 Championship. They are now 17-2 and will play Annville-Cleona on Monday in their final game of the regular season.
Manheim Central 13, ELCO 5 Box Score
Cedar Crest 5, McCaskey 4
After trading runs in the 3rd inning, the Falcons fell behind 4-1 after the Red Tornado put up three runs in the Top 6th. Cedar Crest responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the 5-4 lead. With a strong pitching performance to close the game, Seth Warren shut down McCaskey’s hopes of a comeback. Cedar Crest made the most of every baserunner, as they only had three hits, but drew four walks and saw two players get hit by errant pitches. On Senior Night, seniors Dayton DiBiaso, Logan Oriel, Dominic Roth, and junior Vincent Good drove in runs for the Falcons. In the contest, DiBiaso and Oriel each swiped a base. Senior Dylan Fegley hit a triple and scored a run. Warren pitched the final 1.2 to earn the win.
Cedar Crest (9-9) will play Warwick on Monday before finishing the regular season with a clash against Palmyra next Friday. At this point, The Falcons are sitting on the District 3 Playoff bubble.

Palmyra 9, CD East 3
Jonathan Strohecker scattered six hits over three innings, striking out ten Panthers, while Chase Blanchard was 4-4 with three RBI, tallying two doubles, to lead the Cougars to an important victory. Ethan Lodish had two hits and pitched a scoreless 7th, while Clint Bricker had two hits and scored twice. The win has Palmyra at #12 in District 3 Power Rankings in 5A, where sixteen teams will qualify for the postseason.
Palmyra (10-7) finishes out Mid Penn Keystone play next week by hosting Gettysburg on Monday and Mechanicsburg on Wednesday before traveling to South Lebanon on Friday to visit the Cedar Crest Falcons.
Wednesday, May 1
Northern Lebanon 11, Columbia 1 (F/5)
Entering the afternoon with a magic number of “2” to clinch Section 4, the Vikings battered the Crimson Tide with eleven hits, including home runs from Connor Stoltz, Hayden Adams, and Moises Gonzalez. Vincent Battistelli, Adrian Gonzalez, and Andrew Via each had two hits. Wyatt Bates picked up the win, allowing one hit over four innings.
The win sets up a Friday afternoon “all the marbles” game for Section 4 with Pequea Valley (10-3 in the Section) on Friday at Northern Lebanon (12-1 in the Section).
Garden Spot 7, ELCO 6
Tied at six in the bottom of the eighth, the Raiders lost a heartbreaker on a bases-loaded hit by pitch. Gavin Bicher was 3 for 5 with an eye-popping five RBI, including a grand slam in the sixth to take the lead for the Raiders. Morgan Shanaman gave up six runs, only one of which was earned, as ELCO made four errors behind the right-hander. Braden Gettle had two hits and scored twice for ELCO, who now sit just outside the top 10 in District 3, in 4A, where only the top ten make D3 playoffs.
ELCO has opportunities to improve their power ranking but likely needs to win three of the final four games against Manheim Central (Friday), Tulpehocken (Saturday), Octorara (Monday, May 6), and Lebanon (Thursday, May 9).
Ephrata 8, Lebanon 1
The Cedars were not able to generate much offense under the lights at War Memorial Field on Wednesday night. Colby Robb, Josh Perugorria, and Diego Serrano each had hits for LHS. The Cedars made five errors behind Ben Discuillo and the Lebanon bullpen, chasing Discuillo early in the night. Lebanon has Lampeter Strasburg at home on Friday.

Tuesday, April 30
ELCO 6, Wyomissing 3
Reigning LebCoSports.com male Athlete of the Week Gavin Bicher scattered nine hits over seven innings, striking out four to pick up the win for the Raiders. Dallas George took a bases-loaded walk and doubled in a run, tallying two hits on the day. Morgan Shanaman and Colin Bogart both had RBIs for ELCO.
The Raiders (8-7) return to action Wednesday at Garden Spot and finish out the week on Friday at home versus Manheim Central.
Lower Dauphin 7, Palmyra 3
The Lower Dauphin Falcons scored five in the 1st inning and the Palmyra Cougars drew as close as 5-3, but were unable to close the gap before falling by four runs. Alex Dorta hit a triple and knocked in two runs for PHS, and Kaden Readinger, Chase Blanchard, and Nate Osteen each notched a single on a quiet night for the Cougar bats. Braydon Bown, Clint Bricker, and Ethan Lodish each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
The Cougars sit at 9-7 overall and 6-5 in the Mid Penn Keystone (4th). They will visit CD East on Thursday.
Monday, April 29
Northern Lebanon 9, Lancaster Catholic 2
The Vikings got three hits from Moises Gonzalez and Andrew Via and rode a complete game by Brian Bicksler to lower their magic number to “3” to clinch Section 4. Bicksler scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out seven en route to the victory. Gonzalez and Xander McQuaide joined Bicksler in hitting triples in the game.
Northern Lebanon (15-2 overall, 11-1 in Section 4) visits Columbia (3-11, 1-10) on Wednesday, hosts Pequea Valley (11-5, 9-3) on Friday, an finishes up at home with Annville-Cleona (11-5, 8-5) on Monday.
Annville-Cleona 6, Columbia 3
A walk-off three-run shot by Colten Shaffer sealed the deal for the Dutchmen, who trailed 3-0 from the first inning on as they stayed alive in Section 4. Noah Morcom and Shaffer each had two hits, with Morcom and Preston Bomgardner each driving in a run. Ben Morcom pitched six innings of two-hit ball to earn the win.
The Dutchmen face Pequea Valley on Wednesday at home and then at NL on Monday in two games that are “must-win” for AC to finish in the top two in Section 4.
Cocalico 10, ELCO 0
Gavin Bicher and Austin Smith collected the only two hits for the Raiders as they dropped their second game in a row after winning four straight.
At 6-6 in Section 3, ELCO will be playing for a District 3 playoff spot. They are currently 12th in 4A (top ten advance), with games against Wyomissing on Tuesday and Garden Spot on Friday.
Elizabethtown 12, Lebanon 2 (F/5)
Elizabethtown’s relentless offense put up four runs in the first and fourth, and the Cedars could not answer, falling in five innings. Noah Brandt, David Furjanic, and Flynn Krouse each tallied a hit for Lebanon.
The Cedars will face Ephrata at 7 pm at War Memorial on Wednesday.
Cedar Crest 5, Manheim Township 2
Junior Aaron Krumbine continued his emergence as a weapon out of the ‘pen for Coach Matt Knox as his three-inning no-run outing propelled the Falcons to victory against the Blue Streaks. CC scored three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh as Krumbine mitigated around two walks in relief of Gaven Shreier, who held MT to two runs through four-plus innings. RBI singles by Dayton DiBiaso and Jackson Custer on each side of a Logan Oriel sac fly were the highlights of the three-run sixth. Reached for comment after the game, Coach Knox was effusive in his praise for Krumbine’s temerity on the mound. Entering with a runner on first and third with no outs in the fifth, he induced three ground balls to end the threat. “He showed some (guts),” Knox commented, noting that a seventh-inning double play led to a “legit win” for the Falcons. Krumbine picked up his first varsity win and has a 1.91 ERA in six appearances for Crest.
The 8-8 Falcons play at Hempfield Wednesday and at home versus Warwick Friday before closing out at home versus Palmyra on Monday. Box Score
