Palmyra Boys Basketball Season Outlook

Last season, Palmyra finished with ten wins, earning half of those in the highly competitive Keystone. They were led by Eli Becker, the Lebanon County Male Player of the Year, who is now playing collegiately at Wilkes. Beyond Becker, much of last year’s roster* will return for another year after gaining valuable experience a season ago.

Junior Hank Roesch is one of the leading players that the Cougars will rely on this year. As a sophomore, Roesch came on late in the season to provide a reliable scoring option, something he will look to continue doing this season.

Another player worth mentioning is Hunter Mayer, who will contribute as the only senior on the roster. This means that while the Cougars plan on improving upon what they did last year, this will be a multi-year mission for the great majority of the team.

That mission will be led by Tim Bean, the team’s new head coach, who takes over for Pete Conrad after fourteen seasons. He served as Conrad’s assistant in recent years after having head coaching stops at Hershey and East Pennsboro. This means that Coach Bean knows what he has at Palmyra. For now, the focus will be on developing that talent as they move into the Keystone-heavy schedule that will be the true test of his team’s off-season prep.

*Alex Dorta is not on this year’s roster after serving as a key player as a sophomore on last year’s team
