On Friday, the first six events of the District 3 Swim Championships took place at Cumberland Valley High School. When all of the day’s events were completed across AA & AAA, Lebanon County athletes had put forth an impressive outing with two medals coming back home.
Earlier in the day, it was Northern Lebanon’s Carter Cheslock who improved his time by over one full second in the 100 yd Butterfly to finish 7th place in AA Boys.
The evening’s activity brought on the AAA division, with the highlight coming from Lebanon’s Carlos Hidalgo when he won the 50 yd Freestyle. His time of 20.74 was just ahead of the 20.75 clocked by Muhlenberg’s Brady Robidas. With the victory, the Lancaster Lebanon League champion became Lebanon’s first ever District 3 Champion in aquatics. Hidalgo will also be the top seed when he enters the pool to swim the 100 yd Freestyle tomorrow afternoon. There is a good chance that Hidalgo will not be the lone Cedar collecting a gold medal this weekend, as teammate Will Parker is the heavy favorite in the 100 yd Breaststroke. Parker finished 9th in the 50 yd Freestyle.
