Boys Basketball Outlook: Palmyra

   Palmyra Cougars 2022-2023 Boys Basketball

Last season, the Palmyra Cougars finished 19-7, with a 10-4 record in the Keystone Division, along with a spot in the District 3 Playoffs.  That team was senior-heavy, as they lost several key players to graduation.  Among those losses was Chris Edwards, who was named a 1st Team All-Star in the Keystone.  They also graduated point guard Quinton Townsend, the team’s best shooter Gavin Bean, the team’s best perimeter defender Daniel Baldo, and sixth man/spark plug Trey Hilbert.  All in all, they lost four starters and a key member of their nightly rotation.

While most teams would be in a rebuilding phase, Palmyra is ready to continue its winning ways.  One of the major reasons for this is that they will be returning another ‘21-’22 Mid-Penn Keystone All-Star, senior forward Eli Becker.  Guard Alex Dorta, now a sophomore, will also take on a larger role in the team’s game plan, as he picked up valuable playing time last year as a freshman.  Junior Hunter Mayer and sophomore Hank Roesch are in a similar situation, as they look to contribute to this year’s success.  For Coach Pete Conrad the goal is to improve with every opportunity.  If this happens, the Palmyra Cougars will not miss a step and will be able to build on last year’s success.
